GLUCOSAMINE SULFATE is one of several naturally occurring amino sugars that are necessary for the rebuilding and healthy maintenance of connective tissue, including tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and bone matrix. Increased age is associated with glycation of cartilage that reduces the production of proteoglycans involved as joint lubricants. Glucosamine is an essential component of proteoglycans and may be nutritionally required to re-establish proteoglycan levels. A meta-analysis of fifteen double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials revealed that glucosamine sulfate was superior to placebo in all fifteen studies. Patients receiving glucosaminesulfate have a gradual and progressive reduction in joint pain and tenderness,as well as improved range of motion and walking speed. Glucosamine sulfate isstabilized with either sodium chloride or potassium chloride. Our glucosamineproduct is stabilized with potassium chloride to avoid an additional source ofsodium for patients.

CHONDROITIN SULFATE is a glycosaminoglycan that is a major component ofcartilage; it is rich in sulfur and related to glucosamine. It helps hold waterand nutrients in joint tissue and enhances the circulation of nutrientmolecules in cartilage. A meta-analysis performed on seven randomizeddouble-blind clinical trials using chondroitin sulfate showed it to besignificantly superior to placebo with respect to the Lequesne index and otherpain scores.

MSM (METHYL SULFONYL METHANE) is a source of organic sulfur found naturallyin the human body. MSM is a stable metabolite of DMSO and is 34% elementalsulfur. It supports many functions, including maintenance of connective tissuehealth. Replacement and repair of collagen healthygoodsment membrane, procollagen, andcollagen are dependent on an adequate dietary supply of sulfur. MSM has beenfound to lessen destructive changes in joints.

CETYL MYRISTOLEATE is a naturally occurring ester of a myristoleic acid thatis commercially obtained from palmitic acid. An investigation on mice regardingjoint pain and inflammation led to the discovery of cetyl myristoleate as aneffective anti-inflammatory agent. In a study of rats injected with a jointinflammatory producing material, the cetyl myristoleate group was healthy andhad virtually no signs of joint inflammation. The control group was unhealthyand had severe swelling. Cetyl myristoleate is thought to have severalmechanisms of action: (1) serves as a lubricant for the joints; (2) functionsas an immune system modulator; and (3) mediates the inflammatory process.

NIACINAMIDE has been used for joint pain and stiffness relief for the pastfifty years. Recent evidence shows that niacinamide is effective in suppressingthe inflammatory cascade and in modifying gene expression that affects jointtissue integrity. It does this partly by inhibiting PARS, a repair enzymeactivated by DNA strand breaks caused by reactive oxygen species. PARSactivation leads to an energy-depleting cycle that depletes the cell of NAD andATP, causing dysfunction. In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study, patientswith joint pain using niacinamide had global joint discomfort improved by 29%.Pain was worsened by 10% in placebo subjects. In addition, joint mobility ofniacinamide subjects increased by 4.5 degrees more than controls.

BOSWELLIA SERRATA GUM EXTRACT contains boswellic acids that have been usedfor centuries by Ayurvedic medicine for joint pain and other inflammatoryconditions. Boswellic acids modulate the 5-lipoxygenase pathways to leukotrienesynthesis thereby promoting pain reduction.

GINGER (Zingiber officinale) is known to be a potent inhibitor ofinflammatory prostaglandins and thromboxanes. In one study, patientsexperiencing joint discomfort reported significant pain relief following theconsumption of ginger.

TURMERIC (Curcuma longa) contains curcumin, one of the active ingredients inturmeric. It inhibits free radical damage and may reduce inflammation. Curcuminhas been shown to significantly reduce paw inflammation in rats.

ROSEMARY (Rosmarinus officinalis) has a number of active components thatinhibit lipid peroxidation and superoxide generation. Rosmarinic acid has asuppressive effect on inflammation by inhibiting the complement pathway.

  2. Thanks Dr. Ben - My Joints Are So Much Better Review by Dmitriy Tukan

I am a window cleaner, and have suffered with arthritis in my joints for years. I've tried many other products on the market, never with any relief. My right elbow was especially bad when I asked Dr. Ben for his advice, he reccommended ArthroGenx. I admit, I was skeptical. I'm pleased to report that after taking ArthroGenx for almost two weeks now, two pills twice a day, (morning and evening) I feel relief from the pain. I was at work the other day, and realized that I was actually cleaning a window and was pain free- WOW - thanks Dr. Ben! What an improvement. I really recommend ArthroGenx to anyone else to try if they are suffering joint pain and inflammation. (Posted on 10/17/12)

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis at 1/1/12 10:12 PM
    • I've been taking Methotrexate for my rheumatoid arthritis for three years. I just listened to a podcast, which recommended ArthroGenx. My physician is a bit skeptical of natural remedies, but has recommended Omega 3's, and she checked my Vitamin D levels, so she's somewhat receptive. She also has me take folic acid. I just wondered if I could take ArthroGenx along with Methotrexate.
    • Hello - Taking folic acid with Methotrexate is not enough. You need to be taking the active form as Methotrexate blocks folic acid from converting into the active form of folate. So taking standard folic acid is worthless. Consider taking 1 tablet under the tongue daily of Sublingual Active B12 with Methylfolate which provides active B12 with 800 mcg of methylfolate. http://www.healthegoods.com/sublingual-active-b12-metafolin-seeking-health.html ArthroGenX is very effective. Consider taking 2 capsules away from food in the AM and afternoon and evening before bed. Also avoid all wheat and dairy products. My wife 'had' RA and now is totally free of it and on no medications. We healed her digestive system, removed food intolerances and improved her immune system. It is possible to be free of RA completely with modified lifestyle and dietary choices along with an optimized supplement protocol. You can take ArthroGenX with Methotrexate without an issue. You must be taking the active folate - so please switch to the active form as soon as your doctor says it is ok to do so. "Methotrexate inhibits folic acid reductase which is responsible for the conversion of folic acid to tetrahydrofolic acid. At two stages in the biosynthesis of purines (adenine and guanine) and at one stage in the synthesis of pyrimidines (thymine, cytosine, and uracil), one-carbon transfer reactions occur which require specific coenzymes synthesized in the cell from tetrahydrofolic acid. Tetrahydrofolic acid itself is synthesized in the cell from folic acid with the help of an enzyme, folic acid reductase. Methotrexate looks a lot like folic acid to the enzyme, so it binds to it thinking that it is folic acid. In fact, methotrexate looks so good to the enzyme that it binds to it quite strongly and inhibits the enzyme. Thus, DNA synthesis cannot proceed because the coenzymes needed for one-carbon transfer reactions are not produced from tetrahydrofolic acid because there is no tetrahydrofolic acid. Again, without DNA, no cell division." Source: http://www.elmhurst.edu/~chm/vchembook/655cancer.html If you have no cell division - your DNA is unable to repair damaged tissues. How can you heal your damaged joints if you have no DNA being repaired? I'd love to see you get better so you can stop taking Methotrexate... Best Dr Ben
