Why choose Pantothenic Acid by Seeking Health? Also known as vitamin B5, Pantothenic acid assists the other B complex vitamins in converting food into usable energy. It is also an essential part of the body's ability to produce various enzymes, which act as the catalyst to numerous biochemical reactions in the body. Pantothenic acid also helps support the central nervous system by preserving communication lines between the nervous system (nerves) and the brain. Pantothenic acid may also prove to be beneficial for dealing with allergies, chronic fatigue syndrome, heartburn, migraines, and stress.

Key Benefits and Actions.

  • Relieves Stress. Pantothenic acid is an essential part of the body's ability to produce stress hormone, and it is believed that when a person becomes over-stressed and thus overproduces stress hormones, the body becomes depleted of this vitamin and its stores must be replenished. Depression and anxiety are two forms of stress that increase the need for Pantothenic acid, so if you are experiencing any symptoms of stress Pantothenic Acid by Seeking Healthy may benefit you. Stress is a common factor in life-changing events. Migraines and chronic fatigue also trigger high levels of stress hormones, meaning that extra supplementation is also needed. Some have reported an improvement in mood, energy, concentration and alertness when supplementing with Pantothenic Acid.
  • Converts Carbs and Fats to Energy. Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B-5) is required for the conversion of carbohydrates, fats and protein into usable energy for the body.
  • Supports Nervous System. Pantothenic acid is important to the nervous system as well as contributing to the production of important neurotransmitters in the brain, such as acetylcholine.
  • Supports Immue System. Pantothenic acid also supports the normal functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and for maintaining a healthy immune system, including stimulation of antibody production.
  • What makes Pantothenic Acid by Seeking Health superior to other Pantothenic Acid supplements on the market? Each easy-to-swallow vegetarian capsule contains 500 mg of pure Pantothenic Acid that is easily absorbed into the body. Each vegetarian capsule is free of chemicals, additives and fillers.

  1. Helped me get my energy back Review by elenaviena

I felt tired most of the time for as long as I can remember. Doctors couldn’t find a reason for that. I was eating good food, exercising, sleeping well and had no health problems, yet I felt tired. Dr. Ben suggested I try vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid). I felt energetic the same day I started taking the vitamin. My husband even asked me if everything was ok, because I was so energetic :D I know it sounds incredible that one vitamin can make such a difference, but it really worked for me :)

  • Pantothenic Acid at 9/4/11 2:43 PM
    • Will Pantothenic Acid also help with thinning hair, if not what do you suggest for thinning hair.?? Probably being 67 does not help!!!

      Thank you
    • Hello there - Being 67 doesn't help with thinning hair ;) nor does being male ;) There are some things in life that we cannot control - however - we try! Pantothenic acid definitely helps with graying hair and adrenal support. Given that stress induces gray hair and can also contribute to hair loss, Pantothenic acid may have some benefit to thinning hair. Other things to consider: - elevated testosterone - low iron - low B12/folic acid - low protein absorption - over use of chemicals/goop/coloring etc in the hair - chlorine from the shower or pool - stress - lack of blood flow - lack of nutrients: minerals and vitamins L-Carnitine has shown to actually increase hair growth http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1600-0625.2007.00611.x/full You can choose from any of our Carnitine Tartrate formulations here: http://www.healthegoods.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=carnitine+tartrate&t=1 If hair loss is due to increased testosterone, consider BioProstate by Biogenesis: http://www.healthegoods.com/bioprostate-120-capsules-biogenesis-nutraceuticals.html Ensure you are not anemic - ask your doctor to run some labs. Use only natural shampoos and filter your shower water: http://www.healthegoods.com/new-wave-enviro-premium-shower-filter.html I emailed a customer of ours and they reported via email that Lily Hair Tonic helped a bit but it was too early to give a solid review. I am mentioning it here. If you'd like to try it and review it, I'd be happy to have our customer support team offer you a 20% off coupon as mentioned on the product page (I want to know how well it works): http://www.healthegoods.com/lily-hair-tonic-60-ml-chis-enterprise.html If thinning hair is due to B12 and 5-MTHF deficiency, consider HomocysteX: http://www.healthegoods.com/homocystex.html Eat protein every couple hours - to balance blood sugar, stress and health. Make sure you are eating - and absorbing - about 0.4 grams of protein for every pound of body weight. Massaging your scalp with a Scalp Massager, with your fingers while washing your hair and applying Lily Hair Tonic (perhaps), will encourage blood flow to the scalp. Increased blood flow increases nutrients to the hair shaft thereby helping the hair remain healthy. Scalp massagers are inexpensive and found here: http://www.healthegoods.com/natural-personal-care/massage/scalp-massagers.html As we age, circulation decreases - so massage is definitely a useful consideration for thinning hair. Flow Fx by Seeking Health helps decrease fibrin in the blood which is the building block for blood clots and 'thick blood.' If you are not taking aspirin daily or blood thinners, consider taking 1 capsule of Flow Fx every 12 hours: http://www.healthegoods.com/flow-fx-60-vegetarian-capsules.html Taking a comprehensive multivitamin and multimineral is key as any one single nutrient can disrupt a cycle leading to dysfunction. Consider taking Optimal Multivitamin - 3 capsules three times a day - AM, lunch and around 2 PM. http://www.healthegoods.com/optimal-multivitamin-240-vegetarian-capsules-seeking-health.html Fish Oil is also key to help reduce inflammation, encourage a healthy scalp and cell membranes. Consider taking 2 capsules twice a day: http://www.healthegoods.com/optimal-fish-oil-60-softgels.html Biotin doesn't necessarily help with 'thinning' hair but it makes hair grow faster. Consider taking 1 capsule of Biotin every other day or so: http://www.healthegoods.com/biotin-5-90-vegetarian-capsules-by-seeking-health.html This should help reduce thinning hair at least somewhat! It is pretty comprehensive. In health, Dr Ben

  • adrenals at 11/27/12 10:44 AM
    • There are so many options here for adrenal support. besides B5, what is your best recommendation for other supplements or formulas for Adrenals?
My cortisol is low in a.m. and day & elevated at night. lower back ache is bad.
Q- If adrenal fatigue causes low output then why do people have panic attacks and anxiety? I'm weary of taking an excitatory cuz I have the wired but tired feeling.
      Thanks.
      Kimberly
    • Hi Kimberly,

Thank you for your questions!  There are many reasons for adrenal fatigue:

      - poor diet

      - not eating frequent enough and not eating protein at every meal

      - stress constantly

      - lack of rest

      - an illness

      - a life crisis

      - toxic/heavy metal exposures

      - lack of vitamin B5 and vitamin C

It is important to find out the underlying cause of your anxiety.  Many times anxiety is caused by some health problem that slowly wears your body's defenses down until your body literally goes into panic mode, commonly due to adrenal fatigue.  Adrenals have trouble producing the hormones they’re supposed to---like cortisol.  When cortisol levels become too low it causes hypoglycemia which is the main cause of the anxiety response.

      In terms of supplements:

              - Pantothenic Acid 500 mg with breakfast (2 capsules) may help support your adrenals which are important in ‘waking you up’ via cortisol secretion and take 2 more capsules in the afternoon (no later than 2:00 pm).  http://healthygoods.com/seeking-health-pantothenic-acid-500mg.html

Some other supplements to consider, depending on your symptoms:

             - Optimal Liposomal Vitamin C - 1 tsp twice daily (it's in liquid form) - as well because vitamin C helps breakdown cortisol which is the stress hormone.  http://healthygoods.com/seeking-health-optimal-liposomal-vitamin-c.html

             - If you have any anxiety, Magnesium Plus is good for relieving anxiety--1 capsule with breakfast and 1 before bed. This is very supportive of neurotransmitter production.  http://healthygoods.com/seeking-health-magnesium-plus.html

             - Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic and tonifying herb meaning that it works best when taken long term.  You may take up to three daily without any concerns.  This will also help relieve anxiety by regulating cortisol and adrenaline levels.  If you’ve been having trouble sleeping, this will help.  http://healthygoods.com/ashwagandha-120-capsules-pure-encapsulations.html

             - Being sure to eat every few hours with some form of protein and vegetable is also very supportive of healthy blood sugar levels - which is critical in maintaining healthy stress hormone levels.

      I hope this helps!

      Best wishes,

      Kelly Harrington, MS, RD
