How to use Nettie the Elephant Ceramic Neti Pot:
- 1. Prepare the sinus wash solution- 1/4 teaspoon of Neti Salt, plus 1/4 teaspoon baking soda, and add to Neti Pot.
- 2. Fill the Neti Pot with warm, filtered tap water. Do not use chlorinated tap water, as chlorine can irritate the sinuses.
- 3. Stir well to combine.
- 4. Position yourself over a sink or large bowl. Tilt your head approximately 45 degress, bending head forward so that forehead is slightly above the level of your chin. With your mouth open to allow relaxed breathing, insert the spout of Neti Pot into your upper nostril. Raise the Neti Pot gradually so the sinus wash solution passes into your nose and out through your lower nostril. Allow the contents of your Neti Pot to empty into your nose. Once empty, remove the Neti Pot from your nostril and gently blow out from both nostrils.
- 5. Repeat for the other side.

This is a cute ceramic elephant that we are not using as a Neti pot but as an inhaler for Himalayan pink salt. Other inhalers cost $40, however this one serves the same purpose for only $10! It is easy to hold and the trunk is a perfect spout to put your mouth on and inhale the salt air deeply. My wife and I both like it. Plus, we now have a Neti pot too!

I've been hesitant to try using a neti pot for years. I'm glad that I finally did. I'm experiencing great sinus relief. Really clears your head. I can actually breathe through both nostrils for prolonged periods of time, and have not experienced any migraine headaches since I started using it. I like the cute elephant design also. After 18 months of dedicated usage, my husband and I wanted to upgrade from the plastic Neti Pots we got at the local chain pharmacy. After reading the reviews, we went with these, and are well-pleased. They hold just under 3/4 c of water (so the 5.5 oz advertised is correct). I've always mixed my salt outside the Neti pot and poured it in w/a measuring cup, and it's a habit I'm glad I have. Because the fill hole is on the smallish side - stirring up your mixture inside this pot might be difficult. As others have noted, the long "trunk" provides a higher speed of flow. I would say it cut the flow time from our old pots by 1/3 to 1/2. I could definitely feel the stronger flow inside my sinuses. The fit in your nostril is good - this is not an overly large spout. Because of the speed, my first time trying it I had some leakage around the sides, but I'm sure I'll find the correct fit, since I had the same problem with my original pot.
