It is among the most common vitamin deficiencies, and is recognized as being essential to the prevention of congenital abnormalities. It works to maintain healthy homocysteine levels.

About BodyBio, the company

BodyBio was founded in 1995 by Dr. Patricia Kane and her entrepreneurial partner and husband, Edward Kane.

In 1995, Ed and Patricia Kane, Ph.D. developed a medical database program that would produce a list of required nutrients based on an individual’s blood chemistry results. It links nutritional deficiencies to a person’s blood chemistry/CBC and red cell fatty acids, and provides recommendations to correct those deficiencies, known as The BodyBio Report.

Focusing on evidence based nutrition for over 25 years, Dr. Kane has written numerous articles and books for both the scientific community and the public. Dr. Kane’s primary interest is in fatty acids, nutritional biochemistry, cell membrane function and neurological disturbances, and has a long standing interest in the challenging areas of seizure disorders, autism, traumatic brain injury, MS, ALS, Parkinson’s, CFIDS, and heavy metal toxicity. Her dedication and success in working with children and adults with fragile brain architecture and patients with challenging neurological problems has brought her widespread recognition in the field of nutritional biochemistry.

Dr. Kane works with doctors across the country addressing complex metabolic disorders and lipid disturbances with targeted nutritional intervention.

Dr. Kane serves as Director of Medical Research at BodyBio, having developed a biomedical analysis system for fatty acid and biochemical testing. Her expertise in boldly addressing complex metabolic aberrations and lipid disturbances with targeted nutritional intervention for neurological disorders has led to direct nutrient application utilized by medical doctors worldwide. Her clinical experience, working with physicians, spans 30 years.

  • what should i do? at 1/16/12 1:50 PM
    • I am in Australia and very confused my tests came back positive for one of both mutations , my GP who is very open just said dont stress too much about it and recommended I take folinic acid which I have been taking but after investigating further. The mutation is a little more serious than "dont stress over it" . I looked a the treatment recommended on Dr Jones Kids website and was just about to order the suggested supplements but wondering what your recommendations are. I am good with my diet, a good weight but do struggle with low gluthatione levels and nausea most mornings and my hormones are a mess which is being treated with bio identical hormones ... I feel that if my liver is not working properly then the hormone / body balance is going to struggle.
What is your recommendation for this mutation? Many thanks for your time and thanks for putting yourself out there to help others .. God Bless.
    • Hello - The compound heterozygous MTHFR mutation demands the use of methylfolate - not folinic acid. You are absolutely right: It is more serious than 'don't stress over it and take folinic acid' - both recommendations are not serving you well. I cannot safely make any recommendations without consulting with you first. Given the complexity of your MTHFR mutation plus nausea, hormonal imbalance and low glutathione levels, it is best that you and I talk first. I recommend scheduling a one hour consult this week or next so we can develop an individualized plan. http://www.healthegoods.com/consult.html I perform the consults through Skype and have clients worldwide. In health, Dr Ben
