Each capsule provides 150 mg of elemental magnesium. This chelated magnesium is supplied by Albion Advanced Nutrition, the best mineral chelators in the industry. This product should not cause loose stools or stomach upset due to the very stable chelate formed between two glycine molecules and each magnesium ion via a patented process. There is no need to worry about absorption interference just like Designs for Health’s other chelated mineral products.

Hi there,
Thank you for your question. You are in a scary situation! Due to the seriousness of atrial fibrillation, I urge you to continue on the prescription your physician/cardiologist has prescribed and take the drug as directed. I am unaware of any known over-the-counter natural treatments for A-Fib. Low or high blood and tissue concentrations of minerals (electrolytes) such as potassium, magnesium and calcium can trigger A-Fib. If you haven’t discussed electrolytes with your physician or cardiologist, from a nutritional standpoint, that is one thing I suggest. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables to ensure you're getting enough magnesium and potassium.
Do you smoke? Are you overweight? Those are both lifestyle factors which negatively affect A-Fib.
Limit caffeine, alcohol and tobacco, all of which can set off the abnormal heart rhythms, and avoid any drugs (prescription or over-the-counter) that speed your heart rate as well as any stimulant herbs such as guaraná, kola nut, and yerba maté.
You might consider yoga. A small study at the University of Kansas Hospital found that regular yoga sessions (two one-hour sessions per week for three months, plus yoga practice at home) lowered the number of atrial fibrillation episodes by nearly 45 percent in a group of 49 patients. Practicing yoga also improved quality of life, eased depression and decreased the anxiety reported by some of the study participants. Before beginning the yoga sessions, patients performed any exercise of their choice for three months, during which they continued to have nearly twice the number of atrial fibrillation palpitations they later had while practicing yoga. All of the patients were taking anticoagulant and anti-arrhythmic drugs. Because this study was small, had no control group and only a short duration of follow-up, the results are regarded as preliminary. But they do suggest yoga can have a positive effect on atrial fibrillation, as well as on the anxiety and depression that affect some patients.
Sorry I can’t be of more help.
Blessings,
Kelly Harrington, MS, RD
