Microwaving or boiling plastic water bottles with milk inside is a sure way to contaminate baby with phthalates.
Phthalates were found in 100% of urine samples from 289 'normal' persons.
Phthalates in baby are way more potent as baby has only a few kilograms of mass compared to an adult.
Phthalates are linked to causing hormone abnormalities in young girls - namely thelarche - which is early breast development.
So how to heat formula or baby food?
Heat it in glass jars either in the microwave or in a double boiler on the stove.
Do not use plastic bottles to heat baby food or formula.
Careful with saran wrap as well. Very high in phthalates - the more flimsy the plastic means the more phthalates there are.
