I just had blood work done and my doctor said that my calcium count is too high. I am in good health. Everything else in the report was ok. What is the problem with having a high calcium count?

ANSWER:
Calci -
High calcium levels can be due to:
- Too much ingestion of vitamin D, too much milk.
- Too much ingestion of antacids.
- Burnett's syndrome.
- Cancers - some cancers cause high levels of calcium.
- Hyperparathyroidism - your parathyroid glands are not balanced due to cancer, low blood phosphate or other issues.
You can also find very useful information on eMedicine.com on hypercalcemia.
Your doctor should further evaluate you and should not stop until the cause of high calcium levels are found.
