When was Plato around? How many centuries ago? Even thousands of years ago.
Now medicine is so 'advanced' that we have divided doctors into countless specialties.
What do you think happens when someone goes to a specialist time and time again?
The overall cause of the symptoms get missed - completely.
The classic example for me is cancer.
Primary care physician schedules you for your mammogram. Cancer is found, surgically removed and no traces of the cancer are found after surgery. Chemo is done anyhow to ensure full eradication of the cancer.
Two years later, still cancer free.
Or?
Did you discuss the cause of the cancer with your surgeon?
Did you remove the cause of your cancer?
The cancer was just a part of you that malfunctioned and that part got removed; however, the cause of the malfunction still remains.
The whole was not treated; only the part.
A team of healthcare professionals is needed in order to effectively treat your whole being; not just your 'parts.'
You need your:
- specialists,
- primary care physician,
- wellness coaches
Don't get caught up in seeking the perfect doctor. There is no perfect doctor.
Instead, there is a perfect team of health professionals that work for you and with you.
Look for health professionals that embrace other methods of healing. If your doctor is blind to medications, that is a problem. If your doctor is blind to biochemistry and nutritional therapies, that is a problem.
It is a balance.
Your car doesn't run well because the oil filter is new and the oil is replaced.
It runs well because the wheels are aligned, the fuel is quality, the interior is clean, the brakes work, the seat belts are functional and the transmission is smooth.
There is not one doctor that can do all that maintenance.
How many different places do you take your car to?
- Body Shop
- Car Wash
- Scenic Highways
- Gas Stations
- Brake Repair
- Transmission Repair
- General Auto Repair
- Tire Shop
How many doctors do you have on your team?
