Q: My baby is acting cranky, I think maybe she's constipated. What is the best kind of food or formula for constipated babies? What advice can you give me to help?
A: I am happy to help. I recommend determining food intolerances and allergies – cow milk and soy milk are common.
Breast feeding is the best and do it often – every few hours. It is hard on you at first but baby will gain more weight. You will be able to make more breast milk by using the herb Feverfew and also eating more protein. Whey Protein is best but if you cannot do dairy, then use yellow pea protein powder as that is quite nutritious as well.
Fish Oil for baby is a good idea along with Vitamin D3 and a potent probiotic.
I highly recommend giving baby one quarter (1/4) teaspoon of ProBiota Infant during one feeding every day up until she is 2 years old.
If you are breast feeding, you should be taking about 6,000 IU of vitamin D3 a day. This will be enough for you and baby.
Vitamin D360 has 2,000 IU per drop so 3 drops a day with a meal is an easy way for you to get your D3.
Should you need more help, do ask or schedule a consult.
