Q: What do I use for Ringworm on the scalp on 3 children under 5 years of age?
A: I recommend using Saprox Natural Sulfuric Antifungal Mud by Torf Spa on the scalp for all ages. Saprox wont have to be left on the scalp for as long with a little one. Apply the Saprox in a thin even layer. Let stay for about 5 to 10 minutes - until it is just about dry. Then remove the Saprox with a damp cloth.
Consider applying baby oil to the scalp after the Saprox is removed.
I highly recommend the use of a shower chlorine filter or a bath chlorine filter as well. Chlorine is damaging to proteins - and skin is made of proteins. Chlorine dries out the skin causing the skin to produce more oil thereby creating a more moist environment for fungus.
Also, Zinc status may be low. Supplementing with zinc and applying zinc topically to the scalp may prove beneficial. I prefer Zinc Liquid Mineral by BodyBio.
