• Amino Acids

All of the proteins in the human body are made by 20 unique amino acids, organic compounds that are the building blocks for life. The same amino acids are left behind when a protein is digested or broken down.

Amino acids are needed by the body to break down food, repair body tissues, for bodily growth, and to perform many processes in the body.

Amino acids can be classified into three groups: Essential, Non-Essential, or Conditional. Essential amino acids, like tryptophan, leucine, lysine, and valine, cannot be made by the body and must be obtained through food. There are nine Essential amino acids.

Non-essential amino acids like glutamic acid are produced by our bodies. Conditional amino acids, like arginine and tyrosine, are usually Non-essential, except in times of illness or stress.
