Considering taking Vitamin D3 instead of getting the Flu Shot? Smart.
During winter time months, adults should be taking 5,000 IU of Vitamin D3 daily. Adequate vitamin D3 intake reduces the risk of viral infections, balances the immune system, reduces symptoms of depression and seasonal affective disorder and helps ensure healthy bones to name a few.
Vitamin D3 5,000 IU by Seeking Health provides 5,000 IU of vitamin D3 in one vegetarian capsule taken once per day with a meal. The source of vitamin D3 is from the wool of sheep making Vitamin D3 5,000 IU by Seeking Health a vegetarian source of Vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 is inadequate in many individuals and daily need appears to be higher than previously thought. Vitamin D's role in calcium metabolism and bone health is well known. However, it has many other important physiologic roles that are not as well appreciated. Vitamin D receptors are widely distributed in the body, including colon, prostate, breast and ovary, where it acts to inhibits the excessive growth of body cells and tissues and helps cells mature normally.

Adequate amounts of vitamin D, an essential, fat-soluble vitamin, come from consistent exposure to sunshine and are difficult to obtain from dietary sources. Postmenopausal women, older individuals, and those with malabsorption, limited sun exposure, or certain illnesses may need higher intakes of vitamin D. Vitamin D3, the naturally-occurring form, is supplied in high-potency amount of 5,000 I.U. per capsule for those most at risk of the effects of seasonal declines in vitamin D status or with existing vitamin D deficiency.

Hello -
Couple things:
1) Taking Vitamin D2 is not very effective as it is not the active form of vitamin D - vitamin D3 is. Please ask your doctor why she wants you taking vitamin D2. I think you'll get better results from D3.
2) Liquid vitamin D3 is excellent for those who do not like swallowing capsules or need higher amounts as each drop contains 2,000 IU of vitamin D3. This makes it easy to obtain high levels of D3 quickly and without having to swallow so many capsules. The liquid is also great for people who have sensitive stomachs or do not digest fats very well. The liquid vitamin D3 is great for kids, pregnant women, high dosing and seniors - and -as stated earlier - those who dislike capsules or pills.
3) The Vitamin D3 5,000 IU vegetarian capsule is great for those who just need to maintain their vitamin D3 levels and can easily pop these small capsules in their mouth and swallow.
Both are very pure and without magnesium stearate, preservatives or fillers. It is merely a personal choice.
I personally use the D3 drops for myself and my family. I find them to be easier to use and my kids definitely prefer the liquid vitamin D3.
Great question ;)
