Seeking Health Pro-Digestion Intensive

An extra-powerful digestive enzyme formula containing nineteen vegetarian digestive enzymes to support optimum digestion and absorption. Provides support for those with difficulty digesting gluten and casien, or those with food sensitivities.

Enzymes play a crucial role in digestion, breaking down food componenets into molecules that can be readily aborbed and assimilated by the body. Cooking and heat processing destroys the enzymes found naturally in raw foods, placing the full burden of digestion on the pancreas and other digestive organs.

Low levels of digestive enzymes are often related to age and lifestyle. The delicate enzymes in food are destroyed by cooking and high heat processing, so the typical “modern” diet of processed foods puts extra strain on the pancreas and other digestive organs to produce the necessary digestive enzymes. We also tend to produce less digestive enzymes in the pancreas as we age. Because of the importance of your digestive health to your immune function, supplementing with digestive enzymes and improving absorption helps promote overall good health.

Symptoms that additional enzyme supplementation may be needed:

  • • Heartburn
  • • Gas
  • • Bloating
  • • Excessive belching
  • • Heavy, weighted-down feeling after eating

Pro-Digestion Intensive contains

Plant-derived enzymes: This vegetarian formula contains enzymes that are active across a very broad pH range, making them effective throughout the entire GI tract.

A comprehensive blend of active enzymes: The broad-spectrum combination of enzymes in Pro-Digestion Intensive work together to maximize the breakdown, absorption, and utilization of macronutrients from a wide spectrum of foods, including proteins and protein peptides, carbohydrates, disaccharides, and sugars, lipids/fats, and vegetable fibers. Special proteases (protein-specific enzymes) are included that have Dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV) activity to support optimal cleaving of casein and gluten and their exorphin peptides (casomorphin and gluteomorphin). Serratia peptidase, a unique enzyme that helps protect sensitive GI tissues from irritation, and lysozyme, an enzyme that helps break down bacterial and yeast cell walls, are also included.

Hypoallergenic ingredients: This product contains highly purified, filtered enzymes to meet needs of food- sensitive patients. It is free of porcine or other animal-derived enzymes and avoids fruit-derived enzymes (bromelain, papain, kiwi) for maximum tolerance.

Free of milk/casein, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat/gluten, corn, yeast, and soybeans.

Note: Lysozyme in this product is derived from egg white. Although this is a highly purified material, individuals with known egg white allergy should consult their physician before using this product.

About Seeking Health, the company

Dr. Ben Lynch, founder and Chief Medical Officer of Seeking Health, is a naturopathic physician. While majoring in Cell and Molecular biology at the University of Washington, Dr. Ben took a trip through the South Pacific and Southeast Asia that changed his outlook on traditional medicine, and his life.

During this trip, Dr. Ben hiked through the forests, mountains and coasts of Tasmania, worked a cattle ranch in the Outback of Australia, and volunteered with Mother Theresa in Calcutta. He lived in Fiji with a family having no electricity or plumbing, experienced the Himalayan Mountains of Northern India, worked a fruit orchard in New Zealand, and returned to America with an impression of a different form of medicine than he had ever experienced with his mainstream medical education.

This profound experience led Dr. Ben to Bastyr University, and he studied the Mind-Body Connection, Environmental Medicine, Functional Medicine, and Epigenetics.

Dr. Ben saw the huge need for people to obtain foundational nutrients, and Seeking Health was born. Without foundational nutrients, biochemical dysfunction occurs and causes symptoms. Doctor after doctor and person after person do not understand the absolute requirement for our bodies to have the tools to maintain function.

  • • Without water, we die.
  • • Without food, we die.
  • • Without probiotics, we get digestive disorders.
  • • Without multivitamins, we become depressed, fatigued and sick.

“If one supports their bodily systems, especially their digestion and mental health, with pure, highly absorbable, well-formulated nutrients, the ability to remain healthy and vital significantly increases. We want your foundation rock solid and we provide the tools to do so.”

-Dr. Ben Lynch, founder of Seeking Health

Seeking Health believes that the root cause for many health conditions and supplements stem from ineffective digestion, environmental exposures, poor diet, and lack of a healthy social outlet and inlet.

  • • Once digestion is restored and optimized with the best probiotics, digestive enzymes, stomach acid and intestinal repair nutrients, one is able to absorb nutrients from foods and high quality multivitamins.
  • • Once environmental exposures are reduced, one is able to reduce toxic burden which then frees up nutrients to work in promoting health and preventing disease.
  • • Once diet is optimized, nutrients flood in, energy increases, blood sugar stabilizes and the immune system balances.
  • • Creating a social outlet and inlet allows the parasympathetic nervous system to regain control over the reactive sympathetic nervous system, allowing countless nutrients to be used proactively and in a protective manner instead of being wasted on producing stress hormones.

Seeking Health is here to see you get better, and stay better. Their true passion is prevention.

Seeking Health is based in Bellingham, Washington and operated and managed by a team dedicated to bringing you better health through the best quality supplements, prebiotics, probiotics, and multivitamins.

Seeking Health brings you effective formulas produced without preservatives, colors, titanium dioxide, coloring, or gluten.

Questions on Seeking Health Pro-Digestion Intensive

  • Protease at 8/25/11 9:31 PM
    • I read somewhere that gastritis person should avoid "Protease", because it is too "harsh" on stomach. Is it true?

      Thanks.
    • A bit of protease is a good thing especially if the autoimmune is caused by bacteria. However, a lot of protease is definitely not good. Definitely heal the stomach a bit first with L-Glutamine Powder - about 1-2 weeks - and then start taking PreGestion and Pro-Digestion. In health, Dr Ben

  • Protease at 8/25/11 10:58 PM
    • there are 3 types of protease, Acid Protease 50 SAP,
Alkaline Protease 50 PC (DAPU), Protease/Peptidase Complex with DPP-IV endo-peptidase/exo-peptidase activity 200,000 DPPU (40,000 HUT). So, total how much protease per capsules in HUT? Is this consider low dose of protease or high? If take 1 capsule only would it still benefits? Thanks!
    • Pro-Digestion Intensive is quite strong. One may want to use Pro-Digestion instead if suffering from gastritis. Pro-Digestion is still potent but does not have nearly as much protease - which is a good thing for those with gastritis. http://www.healthegoods.com/pro-digestion-120-vegetarian-capsules-1.html If you do want to use Pro-Digestion Intensive, then I recommend starting with only one capsule with a meal. The main difference between Pro-Digestion Intensive and Pro-Digestion is the amount of protease. Pro-Digestion Intensive is intended for those who do not do well with Gluten or Casein. Pro-Digestion cannot digest Gluten or Casein nearly as well as Pro-Digestion Intensive. In health, Dr Ben

  • Pro-Digestion Intensive for 4 month old? at 10/15/11 3:29 PM
    • Hi, I have a 4 month old who has eczema and extremely painful, smelly gas and watery diaherra. She also has gone from eating every 4-5 hours to every 2 hours round the clock.
Her sister who also has eczema is sensitive to milk. I was wondering if I could and should give my 4 mo digestive enzymes and how much? She is exclusively breastfed. Thanks!

      Gretchen
    • Gretchen- Sorry to hear about your daughter's digestion and skin problems. I highly recommend giving your daughter these: ProBiota Infant: 1/2 teaspoon AM and PM for 1 week and then reduce to 1/4 teaspoon at night only after eating. http://www.healthegoods.com/pro-biota-infant-powder-60-grams-seeking-health.html Lactase Drops: give 1-2 drops before breastfeeding or place 1-2 drops in the formula prior to feeding. http://www.healthegoods.com/lactase-drops-enzyme-supplement.html Adjust the dose of the Lactase Drops as needed - may need more or less - but one to two drops is a good start. Make sure she stays hydrated. She may have some sort of intestinal bug that needs addressing by your pediatrician. I do not recommend giving your 4 month old digestive enzymes. Rather the infant probiotics and lactase enzyme should work well. I also recommend her sister to try the same product recommendations above if they are similar in age. If her sister is 3 years older or above, consider ProBiota 12 Powder and give 1/4 teaspoon after dinner each evening. http://www.healthegoods.com/pro-biota-12-powder-maximum-support-200-billion-cfus-twelve-species-60-grams-seeking-health.html I also recommend that you personally take ProBiota 12 Powder - 1/2 teaspoon for 2 weeks after dinner - then reduce to 1/4 teaspoon for 1 month and then reduce to 1/8th teaspoon for maintenance long term. Pro-Digestion Intensive may be good for you - as an adult. Take 1-2 capsules with a meal. Do not take on an empty stomach. Start with 1 capsule first and if you have a large meal, take 2 if needed. Avoid dairy in your own diet for now while your daughters are breastfeeding. Consider apply Whole Skin Ointment to your daughters' eczema and on their bums to help heal. http://www.healthegoods.com/whole-skin-ointment-40-g-chis-enterprise.html Eliminate any foods from your diet that cause gas and bloating - and also dairy - for now. I do believe your daughter may experience significant benefit quickly from Lactase Drops and ProBiota Infant. Keep me posted! Best Dr Ben

  • Melanie at 1/4/12 11:19 AM
    • Hi, you recommended me taking this with my larger meals, but also switching to probiota 12. Should I take the two together or just take 1 or the other? Thanks!
    • Hi Melanie - ProBiota 12 should always be taken after dinner. Research shows that probiotics taken after dinner have the best survival and colonization rate. Pro-Digestion Intensive should always be taken just prior to a meal or after the first few bites. Best Dr Ben

  • Melanie at 1/4/12 11:57 AM
    • Great, thank you for the clarification. So I should indeed take both of them on one day? Instead of switching back & fourth day by day?
    • The actions are different for these products. The ProBiota 12 is a probiotic supplement designed to restore and maintain healthy flora in your digestive system. This should be taken every night after dinner. Pro-Digestion intensive is a digestive enzyme supplement that is designed to assist your body in breaking down protein, carbohydrates, fats, gluten and casein. This should be taken on a as-needed basis and not every meal unless every meal gives you gas and bloating. If it does, then I would evaluate what you are eating and how you are eating it. Best Dr Ben

  • Intolerance at 8/16/12 3:41 PM
    • I have a Gluten and a Dairy Intolerance. If I take this with meals will it help me to digest the protein effectively? I have had good results with other digestion aiding enzymes but I am wondering if this is of the same strength or if their is something else you would recommend?
    • Hello -

I do recommend Pro-Digestion Intensive capsules for assisting with dairy and gluten intolerance.

You may try taking 1 to 2 capsules with a meal and see how you respond.

There are some people who just should not eat either of these foods.

I also highly recommend adding ProBiota 12 capsules - take 1 capsule after dinner - to help provide beneficial bacteria to your digestive system which thereby helps support healthy digestion and may reduce food intolerances as well.

      In health,

      Dr Ben
