Seeking Health ProBiota Infant Probiotic Powder

The diverse variety of beneficial bacteria in ProBiota Infant helps support gastrointestinal and immune system health for children up to the age of 2 and is specially formulated to aid digestion and absorption of breast milk.

Probiotic supplements contain live, beneficial bacteria that promote proper digestion, support immune system function, aid in production of vitamins, and defend against harmful disease-causing bacteria. Normally, the human digestive tract is populated by hundreds of different strains of bacterial microorganisms important for healthy gastrointesinal and immune function.

This bacterial colonization of the GI tract usually begins at birth, and is critical for development of an infant's intestinal and immune system. However, this process can be disturbed by cesarean section delivery, hospitalization, formula feeding, and antibiotic use. Any of these can potentially lead to impaired immune function with allergic tendencies and increased susceptibility to infections. Probiota Infant Probtiotic contains select probiotics to restore microflora balance and support healthy gastrointestinal and immune system maturation in infants.

If your infant suffers from any of the following:

  • • Diarrhea
  • • Foul smelling stool
  • • Colic
  • • Digestive complaints
  • • Skin problems
  • • Rashes
  • • Frequent colds
  • • Slow weight gain

...then supplementing with ProBiota Infant Probiotics may help.

Supports against diarrhea: The probiotic species in this formulation are antagonistic to microbes in the intestines such as Escherichia coli, Clostridium perfringes, and C. difficile often responsible for rotavirus diarrhea and other infections in infants.

Regulates immune responses:This formula supplies five essential Lactobacillus species critical for healthy development of the infant immune system and shown to reduce the risk of atopic eczema and allergies. Five Bifidobacterium species normally predominant in an infant’s gastrointestinal tract are also included to help modulate immune response to allergens.

Safe for an infant’s metabolism: An infant’s gastrointestinal tract is not fully mature and cannot metabolize the D(-) isomer of lactic acid produced by certain Lactobacillus species often found in adult probiotics, such as L. acidophilus and L. reuteri. This product contains Lactobacillus species that are safe for an infant’s metabolism.

ProBiota Infant contains only high quality, non-allergenic ingredients: The probiotics used are cultured on a vegetarian growth media that is free of common allergens including dairy, wheat, gluten, egg, and soy, thus reducing your child’s exposure to potential allergens. No sugar, artificial sweeteners, coloring, flavors, or preservatives are used in ProBiota Infant or any other Seeking Health product. Inulin, a dietary fiber derived from chicory root, is used as a base ingredient in place of maltodextrin derived from corn or wheat, often used in other probiotic supplements.

How to administer and store ProBiota -

This good tasting powder can be placed directly onto the child's tongue from your clean fingertip or a clean spoon, mixed with expressed breast milk, formula, or solid food at room temperature as needed.

Probiota Infant will maintain or exceed label potency for a year if kept refrigerated. If kept at average room temperature, Probiota Infant will remain potent for 4-6 months. At higher temperatures (86 F), Probiota Infant will maintain potency for about 2 months.

About Seeking Health, the company

Dr. Ben Lynch, founder and Chief Medical Officer of Seeking Health, is a naturopathic physician. While majoring in Cell and Molecular biology at the University of Washington, Dr. Ben took a trip through the South Pacific and Southeast Asia that changed his outlook on traditional medicine, and his life.

During this trip, Dr. Ben hiked through the forests, mountains and coasts of Tasmania, worked a cattle ranch in the Outback of Australia, and volunteered with Mother Theresa in Calcutta. He lived in Fiji with a family having no electricity or plumbing, experienced the Himalayan Mountains of Northern India, worked a fruit orchard in New Zealand, and returned to America with an impression of a different form of medicine than he had ever experienced with his mainstream medical education.

This profound experience led Dr. Ben to Bastyr University, and he studied the Mind-Body Connection, Environmental Medicine, Functional Medicine, and Epigenetics.

Dr. Ben saw the huge need for people to obtain foundational nutrients, and Seeking Health was born. Without foundational nutrients, biochemical dysfunction occurs and causes symptoms. Doctor after doctor and person after person do not understand the absolute requirement for our bodies to have the tools to maintain function.

  • • Without water, we die.
  • • Without food, we die.
  • • Without probiotics, we get digestive disorders.
  • • Without multivitamins, we become depressed, fatigued and sick.

“If one supports their bodily systems, especially their digestion and mental health, with pure, highly absorbable, well-formulated nutrients, the ability to remain healthy and vital significantly increases. We want your foundation rock solid and we provide the tools to do so.”

-Dr. Ben Lynch, founder of Seeking Health

Seeking Health believes that the root cause for many health conditions and supplements stem from ineffective digestion, environmental exposures, poor diet, and lack of a healthy social outlet and inlet.

  • • Once digestion is restored and optimized with the best probiotics, digestive enzymes, stomach acid and intestinal repair nutrients, one is able to absorb nutrients from foods and high quality multivitamins.
  • • Once environmental exposures are reduced, one is able to reduce toxic burden which then frees up nutrients to work in promoting health and preventing disease.
  • • Once diet is optimized, nutrients flood in, energy increases, blood sugar stabilizes and the immune system balances.
  • • Creating a social outlet and inlet allows the parasympathetic nervous system to regain control over the reactive sympathetic nervous system, allowing countless nutrients to be used proactively and in a protective manner instead of being wasted on producing stress hormones.

Seeking Health is here to see you get better, and stay better. Their true passion is prevention.

Seeking Health is based in Bellingham, Washington and operated and managed by a team dedicated to bringing you better health through the best quality supplements, prebiotics, probiotics, and multivitamins.

Seeking Health brings you effective formulas produced without preservatives, colors, titanium dioxide, coloring, or gluten.

Customer Reviews

  1. Great for helping digestion and cradle cap Review by Health E Mom

I have been giving ProBiota Infant to my 6 month old daughter for over a month now, and I have already seen a difference. Digestion seems much easier for her now. Also, she has had a bad case of cradle cap for months. I tried to soften it with oil and take it off when it would pop up, but it kept coming back. Now that I have been giving her the ProBiota Infant powder, though, I have noticed that it is going away without putting on oil and taking it off myself. It is truly a wonderful product. Questions on Seeking Health ProBiota Infant Probiotic Powder

  • Reaction to ProBiota Infant? at 1/13/12 4:40 PM
    • I received the ProBiota Infant Powder i ordered on Saturday & started giving it (1/4 tsp once in evening) to my 8 month old that day. On wednesday he started getting this horrible, painful, bright red diaper rash every time he pooped (I always change him immediately). He has also had horrible gas since weds. I haven't changed anything else in either of our diets (hes basically exclusively breastfed) except for adding the probiotics. Is this a normal reaction that should subside or should I discontinue use? Thank you!
    • Hi - It appears he has pretty significant yeast overgrowth. Keep going with the following changes: I would reduce the amount you are giving him - 1/8 teaspoon. The gas is due to the harmful bacteria dying off. We don't want him uncomfortable. The bright red diaper rash: apply coconut oil after you clean him to reduce pain. If you have some vitamin D, add a drop of vitamin D to his bottom and rub it gently on the rash as well. Any signs of thrush or cradle cap? If it doesn't improve by Monday - let me know and discontinue use. Consider lactose intolerance here as well. Simply add a drop or two of Lactase Drops to your nipple prior to breast feeding OR place them directly into your little one's mouth prior to feeding. These will greatly reduce cramping and colic if that is an issue. They are very safe and have no harmful ingredients. Keep me posted. Cloth diapers are great - and without the cover even better. When I used ProBiota 12 Powder on my older boys, their anus got itchy and red for a bit along with a lot of gas and then it all went away. For some reason, it appears the yeast or other harmful bacteria do this when dying off - I am not sure of the reason yet. Here are the Lactase drops: http://www.seekinghealth.com/lactase-drops-lactase-enzyme.html Best Dr Ben

    • I'd like to give it to my boy and girl who is 10 and 8. Is it still working for such age kids? Thank you.
    • Hello - The bacterial strains in this probiotic are not recommended for over 2 yrs of age. I recommend instead ProBiota 12 Powder and giving 1/8th teaspoon after dinner: http://www.healthegoods.com/pro-biota-12-powder-maximum-support-200-billion-cfus-twelve-species-60-grams-seeking-health.html Should they prefer a capsule, consider ProBiota 12 capsules and give 1 capsule after dinner: http://www.healthegoods.com/probiota-12-maximum-support-50-billion-cfus-twelve-species-probiotic-60-vegetarian-capsules-seeking-health.html The ProBiota 12 line is much better suited for their ages - and yours ;) In health, Dr Ben

  • Safety for infants at 3/5/13 10:46 AM
    • My 10 month old has dealt with constipation since 6mo, after starting solids. She is still breastfed and we have ruled out food allergies. I took her to a gastroenterologist who suggested miralax. I would like to try probiotics first but wasn't sure if they were safe to give to her. I called her dr's office and they were unsure about it.
    • Sorry to hear about your baby!

ProBiota Infant is made for infants so is considered safe for infants.  Consider giving her 1/4 teaspoon in the evening.  It's a powder, so you can mix it with a little yogurt or applesauce to feed it to her.  Ideally, give her the probiotic after her final evening feeding.  Balancing and supporting benefiical bacteria in the digestive tract is critical for many functions: immune, digestive, neurological, dermatological and others.

Definitely continue breastfeeding, as breastmilk is a natural laxative so it is actually helping with the constipation.  Dehydration can cause constipation.  Ensure your daughter is drinking water throughout the day, along with the breastmilk you offer her.  Offer her water all day---in the car, at the store, with meals, between meals, a spillproof cup in the crib at night (cups with straws are often spillproof and you also avoid the "bottle" like effect cups with valves have), etc.

Soft veggies and beans are great finger foods for a 10 month old and effective for reducing constipation.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
