Myomin by Chi Enterprises

Aromatase Inhibitor for Estrogen-Dominant Disorders

Myomin Benefits:
Myomin benefits women with high levels of estrogen or experiencing symptoms caused by high estrogen levels. Myomin benefits women experiencing symptoms caused by uterine fibroids, cysts, endometriosis, and estrogen-receptive growths.

Myomin Men?
Yes! Myomin benefits men who are experiencing high levels of estrogen. Men get high levels of circulating estrogens from environmental toxins, just like women, or from poor liver detoxification, obesity or other reasons. Myomin has shown to benefit men with specific prostate disorders. As men age, testosterone decreases and estrogen increases. Given that Myomin helps minimize estrogen formation, this indirectly increases testosterone. Learn more below about why Myomin and men work well together as men age.

Myomin Side Effects
Myomin side effects are minimal and the side effects by Myomin can be avoided:
Chang Hai Hospital studies show approximately 1% of the subjects taking Myomin experienced side effects such as nausea and bloating. These Myomin side effects go away when the Myomin dosage is reduced or when Myomin is taken with meals.

Estrogen-dominant disorders such as endometriosis, cysts, fibroids and breast cancer may benefit from taking Myomin by Dr Chi. Myomin supports the reduction of estrogen production which is why Myomin is so effective for many women in reducing uterine fibroids and reducing estrogen-sensitive cells.

Myomin is an all-natural herbal formula that can support the reduction of estrogen through Chinese herbs. The herbal ingredients of Myomin are Aralia, Smilax glabra, Curcurma zedoria, and Cyperus otundus. These herbs have been traditionally used for various female ailments and hormone related disorders. Aralia and Cyperus rotundus both help reduce estradiol. Cyperus is also effective against cervical endometriosis and cervical carcinoma. Additionally, Aralia has been found to be cytotoxic against several human cancer cell lines.

Aromatase is a key enzyme in the synthesis of estrogen. Specifically, it converts androstenedione into estrone and testosterone into estradiol. For instance, evidence shows that breast cancer and prostate cancer tissues overexpress aromatase. Inhibiting aromatase, therefore, plays an important role in suppressing the deleterious action of estrogen on hormone related conditions. This is why Myomin is so helpful in uterine fibroids and other high estrogen disorders such as endometriosis.

An in vivo study demonstrated that Myomin inhibits the aromatase enzyme in the ectopic endometrium and ovarian tissue of rats. Aromatase was expressed markedly in the untreated ectopic endometrium of the positive control group. On the other hand, aromatase expression significantly decreased in the ectopicendometrium of the Myomin group after 28 days.

Similar to the ectopic endometrium tissue, aromatase expression was remarkably high in the untreated ovaries of the positive control group. After 28 days of therapy with Myomin, aromatase expression was significantly reduced in the ovarian tissue.

Image analysis of both the ectopic endometrium and ovarian tissues yielded elevated aromatase expression in the positive control group (108.9 and 149.8,respectively) in both tissues. After administration with Myomin for 28 days, aromatase expression reduced to 34.7 in the endometrium and 47.0 in the ovary. This translates to a 100% reduction of aromatase expression in the endometrium and an 85.6% reduction in the ovary compared to the negative control group.

Myomin has three functions:

  • Myomin inhibits the aromatase enzyme, effectively reducing estradiol levels by preventing the conversion of androgens to estrone and estradiol. This allows testosterone and estriol (the good estrogen) to accumulate. Aromatase inhibition has become a worthwhile target in many estrogen-dominant disorders
  • Myomin competes with estradiol at the estrogen receptors. This function is particularly effective in cases where estrogen receptors are fully stimulated (e.g. after HRT). Competing with estradiol prevents estradiol from binding to receptors. As a result, proliferation of cells is avoided and abnormal growth inhibited.
  • Myomin increases interferon (IFN) and interleukin-2 (IL-2). IL-2 induces the proliferation of immune cells, enhancing the body's ability to kill tumor cells. IFN stimulates natural killer cells and is active against tumors.

Myomin Reduces Estradiol Levels

One study performed at the Shanghai Medical School illustrates the effect of Myomin on estradiol levels of mice during pregnancy – a period when estradiol levels are especially high. Two groups of 12 mice each were used in the study. One group was used as the control. The other group was given Myomin beginning 15 days into pregnancy. Three days later (on the 18 th day of the study), the average estradiol level of the Myomin group was 7.22pg/ml, approximately seven times less than the control group. After 6 days of taking Myomin (on the 21 st day of the study), their average estradiol level was 8.81pg/ml while it was 85.98 pg/ml for the control group.

In another study, 90 female mice were divided into three groups. Each group was then given Myomin for 30, 60 and 180 days, respectively. The average estradiol levels after each period was 50.6, 36.6, and 32.4 pg/ml, respectively. After 180 days, the estradiol level stabilized. These results demonstrate long-term use of Myomin reduces estradiol in such a way that it maintains around the normal level. No side effects were reported in this study.

A human study involved 60 postmenopausal women with cysts and/or fibroids. Postmenopausal women were studied because their estradiol levels are more stable than those of premenopausal women. Initially, the average estradiol level was 74.52 pg/ml. After only 10 days on Myomin, their average estradiol level reduced to 38.84 pg/ml. The fibroids, cysts and associated pain gradually reduced.

Myomin and Estrogen Dominant Disorders

A study from Chang Hai Hospital involved 75 cases of fibrocystic breasts (70 women ages 18 to 52 years old and 5 men ages 62 to 64 years old). Sixty five percent of the women were under 35 years old. 25 cases were in the control group while 50 cases were in the Myomin group. Results of the study revealed that, in 14 cases, the fibrocystic breast completely cleared after 1 month of taking Myomin while, in 16 cases, the fibrocystic breast reduced 50% in size. Among the five men in the study, the cysts cleared completely in 3 cases.  Overall, the effectiveness rate of Myomin is more than 60%, compared to the control group's 12% rate. In the Myomin group, in 48 out of 50 cases, associated pain cleared or tremendously reduced (p value <0.05) while in the control group, pain reduced in only 12 out of 25 cases.

A 1994 clinical study was conducted on 255 patients with ovarian cysts and endometriosis. After 5 months, Myomin was effective on 147 patients (57%) while some improvements was observed in 87 patients (34.1%). No effect was observed in only 21 patients.

Another study was conducted on both pre- and postmenopausal women with ovarian cysts. In one study from the Chang Hai Hospital in Shanghai, China, 85 female patients with ovarian cysts were involved, with ages ranging from 27to 64 years old (more than 50% of them between 34 and 45 years old). Out of the 85, 40 cases were related to endometriosis (hyatidiform cyst), 44 cases were simple ovarian cysts and 1 was a case of ovarian cancer. After 1 to 3 courses of the herbal formula, the cysts and symptoms of 15 patients completely cleared with no recurrence 3 months after the study. In 34 patients, the size of the cyst reduced by 50% and some of the associated symptoms were relieved.

Y. Dikansky, DDS from NY, has a 38 year old female patient with an ovarian cyst for 8 years. The cyst was 3.7x6x2. After 3 months on Myomin, the cyst cleared.

A 2000 study at the Shanghai Medical School was performed on 60 patients with small uterine fibroids. It revealed that if Myomin is used in combination with Revivin, it is 69.2% effective on uterine fibroids that exceed 2.5cm in size. Another alternative would be to combine Myomin with Angiostop, an angiogenesis inhibitor.

The potential applications of aromatase inhibitors in many health conditions are continually increasing. They have been shown to reduce the risk of recurrent breast cancer, especially when used for a longer period. However, the aromatase inhibitor drugs in the market today are indicated for postmenopausal women only. This is very limiting especially since more and more premenopausal women are developing estrogen-related conditions. It is for this reason that the results of these studies on Myomin are significant. As stated before, Myomin has been used in clinical studies and found to be effective in both premenopausal and postmenopausal women with ovarian cysts, fibrocystic breast and endometriosis as well as in men with fibrocystic breast. It is able to produce these favourable results by inhibiting aromatase and consequently reducing estrogen levels.

Myomin and Men: More Information:
Aromatase inhibition is important in men as well. As men age, testosterone is being more readily converted to estrogen through the aromatase enzyme.  Increased estrogen levels can lead to problems such as prostate cancer, prostatitis, and even gynecomastia. Evidence suggests that local aromatase expression in the prostate increases malignancy. In fact, the level of aromatase expression in malignant prostate tissue is comparable to that in breast cancer tissue. As a result, local estrogen levels are also promoted at the prostate tumor site, increasing growth. Aromatase inhibitors like Myomin will help block the action of aromatase, thereby minimizing the depletion of testosterone and reducing estrogen levels.

Myomin for Relief of Menopausal Symptoms

Myomin has also been reported to be effective in reducing the severity and frequency of hot flashes in some women. Although its exact mechanism on this particular function remains to be elucidated, it may be explained by Myomin's ability to compete with estrogen at the cells' estrogen receptors. It should be noted, however, that some women experience worsening of symptoms with Myomin. This is probably due to very low levels of estrogen in these women.

Myomin for Abdominal Fat

An aromatase inhibitor like Myomin can also reduce abdominal fat. Abdominal obesity is associated with decreased testosterone levels (or hypogonadism) and increased estradiol levels. Hypogonadism leads to the deposition of fat in the abdomen. As fat accumulates, aromatase activity increases at the site, causing more testosterone to be converted into estradiol. Taking testosterone or DHEA supplements is not enough because if aromatase is uncontrolled, then testosterone and DHEA will eventually be converted to estradiol. Adding anaromatase inhibitor like Myomin blocks the action of aromatase, effectively preventing the testosterone from being converted into estradiol. This leads to more muscle mass and the loss of abdominal weight.

Myomin is an herbal formula that is both an anti-estrogen agent and an aromatase inhibitor. This formula combined with Angiostop, an angiogenesis inhibitor, presents an effective combination for breast cancer. Revivin may also be added to help kill cancer cells. To boost the immune system, Asparagus Extract and Reishi Spore Extract are recommended.

Myomin And Chi-F For PCOS

PCOS is associated with an excess level of the androgens testosterone, androstenedione, and DHEA. This leads to a condition of excess hair growth, which is common in some women with PCOS.

Managing PCOS involves inducing ovulation, making the menstrual cycle normal and reducing associated symptoms. In many cases, supplementation with progesterone is recommended. However, there are may be future risks involved.

In the biochemical pathway of sex hormones, progesterone and androgens are precursors to estrogen. This means that the higher the amount of progesterone and androgens, the more estrogen is produced (through the action of the aromatase enzyme). Excess estrogen is common in obese women. As fat accumulates, aromatase activity increases, leading to the conversion of more androgens into estrogen.

Myomin is an ideal supplement for normalizing estrogen levels. It acts by inhibiting the aromatase enzyme, stopping the conversion of androgens into estrogen. Numerous studies have shown that Myomin is able to reduce estrogen levels in as little as 10 days. It also reduces ovarian cysts.

Because of the imbalance of hormones in PCOS, Chi-F is also recommended. Studies have shown that Chi-F balances hormones in the body, making it effective for reducing symptoms associated with menstrual abnormalities in women.

The Development of Myomin, a Chinese herbal formula, has been clinically shown to reduce fibroid cysts, to have effective inhibition rates and improve immunity. It contains Curcuma zedoaria (Berg.) Rosc., Cyperus rotundus L.,Smilax glabra Roxb., Areca catechu L. (Pericarpium arecae), and Aralia Dasyphylla Miq. Myomin has also been proven to induce interferon, tumor necrosis factor, interleukin-2, and lymphatic toxin. This herbal supplement is especially beneficial when treating ovarian poly-cysts as well as mammary ductal hyperplasia. In addition, it has been found to be effective in treating breast cancer as well as cervical cancer. Through clinical data it has been shown that Myomin is excellent for treating endometriosis and does not result in negative side effects such as weight gain or dry vagina. For best results, Myomin should be taken 3 times a day, 2-3 capsules each time. It should only betaken 30 minutes after each meal.

In another respect, Myomin can reduce myoma symptoms and significantly reduce the size of the growths. Myomin is good for maintaining good health in female organs such as the breasts, uterus and ovaries. This amazing mixture has also been shown to prevent ectopic pregnancy, adjust irregular menstrual cycles, prevent post-operative adhesion of organs and now has been found to work on skin tumors as well. Myomin works best on tumors no larger than 2-3cmin each dimension. It is excellent for kidney and thyroid cysts. Improvements should be seen within 2-3 months of treatment. In regard to cervical cancer, aspeedy rate of improvement (within 4-6 months) should also be observed. The product works to increase circulation and dissolve clots, detoxifying thesystem and mitigating fever. It is excellent for alleviation of enlarged livers and spleens and cirrhosis.

Clinical Studies:

In an experiment done to test the effectiveness of Myomin, 100 patients were given Myomin and after a 2-3 month treatment period, two-thirds of tumors were reduced and the overall volume of menstrual fluid was reduced by 50%. The total effectiveness rate was 44% while the control group showed only 15% effectiveness using conventional treatment only.

Myomin also helps to shrink fibroids and so is also beneficial for patients who suffer from cysts found in the ovary, kidney, liver, thyroid and breasts.Clinical studies have shown that Myomin is capable of inhibiting cysts and abnormal growths, such as tumors, as well as improving immunity, induce interferon levels, tumor necrosis factor and interleukins. The results of several hundred case studies regarding ovarian cysts show that the effectiveness of Myomin on ovarian cysts is 57.7%. In addition to being the most commonly found benign tumor on female genitalia, myoma is the most frequently observed tumor in the entire body. Myomin has been clinically shown to reduce myoma symptoms of galactoma, neurinoma, endometriosis and cysts in many organs.

Myomin for Osteoporosis and Kidney Function

Myomin has also been shown to be excellent in the improvement of osteoporosis and kidney function. In a test including 160 people (152 women and 8 men) with osteoporosis, 29% of the patients actually improved their condition with use of the product, as well as their overall bone density in a course of 2 years. Conventional calcium treatment methods showed only a 10% rate of effectiveness. And since the product is shown to be good for the kidneys, it works to prevent hair loss in those with poor kidney function. In tests conducted on over 1000 patients at the Bejing Red Cross Hospital, 86% benefited from Myomin use.

Chang Hai Hospital in Shang Hai reported 75 case studies involving fibrocystic breast disease. Five of the patients were males. Their ages ranged from 18-52 years old. The two males were 62 and 64 years years old. 65% of thegroup were under 35 years old. 50 of the patients were treated with Myomin andthe other 25 were used as controls in a double blind study. The Myomin group consisted of 38 people with both breasts afflicted. More than 60% of thefibrocysts were over 3cm. They were treated with Myomin three times a day, three capsules at a time, for up to 3 months. Within one month, 14 cases werealready improved. Totally, only 5 cases were unaffected. 90% of the cases showed improvements. 95% of the patients reported a reduction in pain. Both males and females experienced these positive results.

When taken 30 minutes after meals, 3 times a day, Myomin produces excellent results. For those with Ductal hyperplasia, Myomin successfully inhibits proliferation of the lactation ducts and the difference is noticeable within days of treatment. Its beneficial effects on ovarian cysts can be observed within one month of usage. Symptoms of abdominal pain, myoma, and irregular period and discharge cycles are all improved within 1-2 months of taking Myomin as recommended.

  7. Seems to work but WITH side effects not mentioned Review by Suzy

How come there are ONLY good reviews on all of this products websites except for Amazon. I started taking only 2 pills for 7 or 8 days and my first cycle was a DREAM compared to what I've experienced for the past 30 years of my life. Literally no cramps at all, everything was great. I increased to 4 tabs a day after about 21 days and started having regular headaches everyday a few hours after I took the first 2 pills with food. The headaches stay the rest of the day. The same week I started spotting and the end of that week woke up with a severe headache, cramping and bleeding. My right ovary even hurts. I'm not saying the product doesn't work; I am saying there can be side effects. (Posted on 10/17/12)

As a male, I had an unusually high estrogen level: 61 and far above a normal reading of 25. Working with my physician we've developed a strategy to bring it down. One component of our program is Myomin, which my physician suspects is the most pivotal aspect we're employing. My estrogen reading is now 18.

I started taking Angiostop and Myomin together a week before chemo for stage 4 colorectal cancer. Some sympthoms of the colon cancer were reduced or just went away like severe gastrointestinal pain. Another factor that may have contributed, was that all products with gluten and refined sugars were almost eliminated. My 1st and 2nd chemo treatments have been very easy. My Dr. at M.D. Anderson, Houston, TX said it was ok for me to take both of these after seeing how well I was doing after my 1st Chemo. My liver functions improved by 50% after just 1 chemo treatment. • Hello. I have elevated prolactin levels and my ND put me on Myomin. I was just wondering if this will help to regulate my levels? I am curious because I thought you had to regulate the dopamine levels in order to regulate prolactin. I previously went to an endocrinologist who wanted to put me on meds, but I opted for the natural route. I am 32 years old and am trying to get regulated before trying to conceive. Would appreciate any advice and feedback. Thank you!
      Faith
    • Faith, Unfortunately we do not have enough information to give a definite answer. While prolactin has nothing to do with conceiving, you may have been prescribed myomin for elevated estradial levels. If so, then myomin is the correct product to take. For a more in depth answer you can schedule a consultation with Dr. Ben at the link below. http://www.healthegoods.com/consult.html In Health, The HealthE Goods Team

    • I have been telling my cousin, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer, how much the Myomin helped to rid my body of fibroid lumps in the breasts. I will refer her to your web site, but I was also trying to locate the map which shows the chemical pathway of how myomin effects our system. Do you have a copy of that and if it is on your web site could you please direct me to it. Great site; you actually do more than Dr. Chi to promote this wonderful product. After 47 years of fibroid lumps in my breasts, I am clear after using Myomin for 9 mo to 1 year. I do continue with a maintenance of 1 per day. N. Dinsmore
    • Here is one pathway demonstration showing how aromatase inhibitors work in different parts of the body: http://www.pharmgkb.org/pathway/PA145011117 Here is another: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/409520_6 Basically, Myomin helps inhibit aromatase according to studies done. Make sure your bone density levels are good. If estrogen levels drop too low, then your bone density weakens among other symptoms such as dry skin, decreased vaginal secretions, thin skin - to name a few. There are various causes of breast cancer. If the breast cancer is estrogen receptive, then Myomin may prove beneficial. If it is not, then Myomin may not help. I highly recommend the use of Vitamin D3, Iodine and Modified Citrus Pectin (Pectasol) for those with breast cancer. • Hello - It is impossible to answer this question. My apologies. I am not sure what you are trying to achieve and your physician needs to dictate treatment for you. Myomin is excellent at reducing estrogen levels indirectly by reducing the formation of estrogen. If you are taking bio-identical hormones and you are low in estrogen, Myomin is not a good idea. • Very Estrogen Dominant - HCG Only Thing That Worked... at 4/23/12 3:10 PM
    • Hello,

I just discovered Myomin last night and after reading many positive reviews and how the product works for many disorders and symptoms I am going to give it a try along with the DIM-I3C. I am at my wits end!

I am a 45 year old woman who for most of my life has been an active athlete and maintained a size 4 - 6 with little effort. In 2009 I got off birth control pills cold turkey and didn't replace them with any HRT. Over the next year I gained 50 pounds and no amount of working out or eating right worked to reduce the weight. I grew frustrated and had the saliva test and went to a bio-identical hormone specialist listed in Suzanne Somers book. I found out I had very high levels of estrogen, was estrogen dominant, and was barely, barely producing any progesterone. I learned that working out actually exacerbates the weight problem with inflamation and continual fat production. I had every symptom imaginable and went on organic progesterone cream. That helped tremendously but the weight still did not come off.

I discovered homeopathic HCG and lost 30 pounds. The problem was when I got off the HCG the weight came back. Working out and eating right didn't matter. Also going off the HCG brought on severe cramping, water retention, bloating, loss of sleep, joint pain, etc. I couldn't win!!!! I can't stay on HCG my whole life.

I would like to read testimonies of women who have lost 40+ pounds on Myomin and DIM-I3C. Can you report on these success stories? I would like to know how much weight a woman lost the first 30 days on Myomin/DIM and after 60 days how much weight came off. Also, once you lose the weight do you have to continue to take these products for the remainder of your life?

Many thanks! I so want my active, fit, healthy body back!!
    • Hello -

I suspect that you have some blockages in your estrogen metabolism and those are what may need to be addressed.

Myomin and DIM+I3C are useful in lowering estrogen but do not get at the root cause of the elevation.

I'd consider looking at your lifestyle, diet, liver health and potentially some genetic mutations such as MTHFR and COMT.

In the meantime, starting on DIM+I3C is a good start along with taking ProBiota 12 and Liver Nutrients and Optimal Fish Oil.

A consult here is highly recommended. If you'd like my help in getting to the bottom of your elevated estrogen levels, I'm available via consults. Please call 800-689-8221 to set up a time and I'm there on call with you one on one.

  • Multiple liver cysts at 4/28/12 12:52 PM
    • I am age 63, post-total hysterectomy at age 43, on replacement estrogen until about age 53. I have been diagnosed with multiple liver cysts (since 1994 but enlarging over time) with the largest at 8.9 cm. They are somewhat symptomatic with intermittent pain under right rib. I note that the myomin has helped reduce the size of liver cysts. I have mild renal insufficiency (creatinine 1.2) (caused by Boneva which I no longer use). Is it safe to take Myomin with the renal issue? How long would I need to take it?
      Thank you.
    • Hello -

This is a complex medical question that is not safe for me to answer.

I apologize that I cannot offer more information.

Do ask your integrative physician if it is ok to take Myomin with your renal issue.

  • DIM at 4/28/12 3:33 PM
    • I contacted a company that I order DIM from and during the conversation mentioned that I was recently diagnosed with a thyroid problem for which I am taking a natural supplement. The consultant advised that I should not take DIM if I have thyroid issues, but I'm not clear why. She recommended Myomin, instead, so that's what I'm not taking for my estrogen dominance and uterine fibroids. Can you tell me why DIM is not recommended if you have thyroid issues? Thanks!
    • Hello -

I am not sure why DIM cannot be taken if you have a thyroid problem. Research shows that DIM can be useful for thyroid disorders. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16219298

Myomin is useful in lowering elevated estrogen levels - so that is a good 2nd option.

  • PCOS and TTC at 5/6/12 4:02 PM
    • Hello, I am seeing a naturalist who has suggested I take Myomin because it would help with my PCOS. She isn't sure however about taking it when you are pregnant. My questions are 1.) should I continue to take it even if I was to become pregnant or not? and 2.) should I take it up until ovulation then stop, or the whole month no matter what?

      Thank You!
    • Hello -

It is always recommended to have your OB/GYN or midwife and/or integrative physician monitor your hormones when trying to conceive and while pregnant.

Myomin is a great product for those with PCOS as is DIM + I3C by Seeking Health.

If your estrogen levels are elevated, it is ok to take Myomin and/or DIM+I3C before getting pregnant. Once pregnant, I'd stop it and ask your integrative physician to see what they recommend.

I do recommend you consider taking 1 to 2 scoops of Inositol once to twice daily to help support insulin levels. Inositol may be significantly important to you currently.

I also suggest you consider Optimal Fish Oil capsules to help support healthy membranes and triglyceride levels. Consider taking 2 capsules with lunch and 2 capsules with dinner.

  • On the right track? at 6/22/12 9:14 AM
    • I just listened to your recording, I am 55 years old and think I have problems with Estrogen dominance I have very sore breasts and had at one time take Calcium D'Citrate. I am not on HRTs and am overweight by about 20 pounds. I would like to know if I am on the right track to take the Calcium again or do I take Myomin?
    • Do you mean Calcium D Glucarate?

Taking calcium citrate will have no effect on estrogen levels - not to my knowledge.

Taking Myomin or DIM + I3C are both effective at supporting healthy estrogen levels.

Making sure you instill lifestyle and dietary changes to help lower estrogen levels is highly recommended.

  • Fibroadenomas at 9/4/12 2:35 PM
    • Hello. I am a 25 y/o female. I'm not overweight and eat a primarily vegetarian, gluten free, very minimal dairy diet. Last year I had 4 fibroadenomas in one breast and tried to get rid of them naturally (herbs, vit c therapy, castor oil packs, etc.), but was unsuccesful. Due to the pain that they caused, I opted for surgery and had them removed 10 months ago. Now I found another one in the same breast in the same spot as two of the previous four lumps. When I have had my hormones tested, my results showed that I was low in progesterone and not ideal, but within range, of my other levels. I have also struggled with adrenal fatigue (still do) and thyroid issues, though the latter is mostly corrected nowadays. I have a high stress job and usually get about 6 hours of sleep a night, but deal with restless legs frequently. Due to the issue with my recurrent lumps, do you think Myomin would be beneficial for me to try? Thank you for your time!
    • Hello -

It appears that you may have elevated estrogen levels. Please have your doctor check your female hormone levels.

If your estrogen is elevated, Myomin or DIM+I3C by Seeking Health may be useful in supporting healthy estrogen levels.

Also, supporting your liver with Liver Nutrients by Seeking Health - at one capsule with dinner.

I would not recommend Myomin or DIM+I3C if your estrogen levels are fine.

Supporting your adrenals and thyroid gland is critical.

Consider taking 1 capsule of Pantothenic Acid with breakfast and 1 with lunch to support your adrenals.

Taking some quality fish oil may also help - such as Optimal Fish Oil - consider 2 capsules with dinner.

If you are struggling with restless legs, consider:- 1 to 2 capsules of Magnesium Plus before bed- 2 capsules of Ashwagandha before bed- 1/2 tablet of Active B12 with Metafolin upon rising.

Supporting your adrenals also with vitamin C is also recommended. Consider mixing 1 to 2 scoops of Optimal Vitamin C Powder in a liter of filtered water and drink throughout the day. This will help support your adrenals, hydration and also support glutathione recycling - for detoxification.

      These recommendations may help you.

I just want to make sure it's efficacy is not being interefered with. Please advise. Thank you!

    • Hello -

This is a question that you have to present to your integrative doctor.

Tamoxifen and Myomin both work on estrogens so it is best to work with an integrative doctor to check on your estrogen levels and estrogen fractionation.

  • Myomin at 11/5/12 12:39 AM
    • I am estrogen dominant ie high estrogen levels in comparison to my progesterone level. I am 40 years old and suffer from gilberts disease one of my enzymes responsible for phase 2 liver detoxification ie estrogen conjugation only works at 25 %. I have taken liver supplements but to no avail. My question is should I be taking Myomin or DIM or both to reduce my estrogen levels?? I have taken DIM in the past but did not see a reduction in my estrogen, I only took it for a month.............maybe it needed more time to work?
    • Hello and thanks for your question!

Myomin works by blocking the aromatase enzyme in the body, which in turn reduces the production of estrogen.  This is an indirect action on estrogen.  If your estrogen is sky high, DIM & IC3 are more potent and decrease estrogen even more than Myomin.  They work by binding and blocking estrogen receptors and also increase an ability for your liver to detoxify excess estrogen.  Talk to your doctor if you are interested in taking any of these products.  DIM + I3C and Myomin may be taken together if your estrogen levels are elevated.  You may need to take the DIM longer to see results.  You must have you doctor monitor your estrogen levels as they should not get too low.

Also consider why your estrogen may be high?  Some items to consider:  Be aware of what you eat and where it comes from.  Avoid drinking or eating out of plastic containers.  Avoid heating food in plastic containers.  Many plastics contain BPA (common sources of BPA:  plastic cups, plastic water bottles, plastics (in general), lining of canned foods, etc.).  Estrogen is readily increased through synthetic xenoestrogens, which are widely used industrial compounds, such as PCBs, BPA, and phthalates, which have estrogenic effects on a living organisms.  Consider eating and drinking out of stainless steel and glass instead.

If overweight, consider losing weight because adipose tissue (ie: fat) creates estrogen.

Consider taking a probioticOne capsule after dinner to help assist your body eliminate excessive estrogens and process xenoestrogens.  I recommend: http://www.healthegoods.com/probiota-12-maximum-support-50-billion-cfus-twelve-species-probiotic-60-vegetarian-capsules-seeking-health.html

What are you vitamin D levels?  Have your doctor check your levels to determine whether or not you need a vitamin D3 supplement.

  • conception & pregnancy at 1/3/13 10:46 AM
    • Hi there. I am 42 yrs old, currently have adenomyosis, and trying to conceive. A couple of questions: Is it safe to take Myomin when trying to conceive? Is it safe taking it during pregnancy? Thanks.
    • Hi Sandra,

It is ok to take Myomin while trying to conceive.  Once you become pregnant, discontinue the Myomin.  It is not recommended to take Myomin while pregnant.  Since you're trying to conceive, don't forget to start taking folic acid now to reduce your risk of a baby with a birth defect (ie: neural tube defects).  I recommend the active form of folic acid, which is 5-Methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) or folinic acid.  You need 400 mcg before becoming pregnant and once you are pregnant, the recommendation is 800 mcg per day.  Here are a couple folic acid supplement options:

  • Hot Flashes and Menopausal Symptoms at 3/14/13 9:34 PM
    • I am 59 years old. Been on bioidential HRT for over 7 years until last year when I had some minor spotting. GYN took me off, did some tests and felt I was low in estrogen due to vaginal dryness and cracking on my cervix. Put me on estrace cream and prometrium. Had a flare up of cysts in my breast. Went off that and tried herbs with little success. Went back on bioidentical HRT till had some spotting again. Tried Amberen with no result. Need relief from hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms. Is this appropriate for me to take?
    • Hi Bonnie,

Myomin has also been reported to be effective in reducing the severity and frequency of hot flashes in some women.  Although its exact mechanism on this particular function remains to be elucidated, it may be explained by Myomin's ability to compete with estrogen at the cells' estrogen receptors.  Please note, however, some women experience worsening of symptoms with Myomin.  This is probably due to very low levels of estrogen in these women.  For this reason, please consult with your primary health care provider.

  • Dermoid Cysts at 4/6/13 9:27 PM
    • My wife was found to have dermoid cysts on her ovaries. We were wondering if Myomin would be helpful with this? We have read a general overview of these type of cysts and find it curious that they could contain hair, teeth, etc. We find it curious being that our last child was found to have been a twin (they suspect the other twin was lost very early on, the placenta showing where a 2nd umbilical cord was attached). Could this be the cause of the cysts? We have had issues conceiving another baby, our youngest is 5 years old. She has had miscarriages and is using some hormone cream (she is 36). She also takes something called "menstrual reg" by another company. Her cycle has been off as well usually starting early. If the cysts are removed one way or another would that help her overall hormonal issues? We have been drastically changing our diet toward a more plant based, whole foods one and are seeing some good results in areas just within a few weeks.
    • Hello,

Sorry to hear about your wife’s difficulty in conceiving.  What you eat is definitely related to ability to conceive, so continue making changes to clean up your diet.  If you have any specific questions about your diet, please let me know.

Also, there is a MTHFR gene mutation associated with recurrent miscarriages.  It may be worth looking into to make sure your wife doesn’t have this.  It’s actually fairly common.  Here’s a very informational & credible website to learn more about MTHFR:  www.mthfr.net

With that said, I wish I was able to further assist you, but I am not a doctor or naturopath. Your question is outside of the scope of practice of a Registered Dietitian.  Hopefully your doctor can steer you in the right direction, or consider looking for a naturopath in your location. • Estrogen levels on the low end of normal at 4/10/13 8:19 PM
    • Doctor says I have estrogen dominance even though my estrogen is on the low side of normal. She says the estrogen dominance is really low progesterone in relation to estrogen. I have been taking Myomin for about 5 days. She also thinks I have endometriosis. I feel like the pain in my abdomen is better since starting the myomin, bit I have been MUCH more tired and depressed than normal. Do you think the myomin could be making me tired?
    • Hello-

According to Chi Enterprises, a small number of users of Myomin have reported experiencing nausea and bloating.  I have not heard of fatigue as side effect of Myomin but each person is different and hormones are very powerful!  Make sure you’re taking Myomin with food.  Consider lowering the dosage of Myomin to see if that decreases any unwanted side effects.  Be sure to consult with your doctor about your depression worsening and taking the Myomin.
