We are all exposed to airborne toxins. Lungs are naturally high in N-acetyl-cysteine and so is our liver. When one has lung symptoms or conditions such as pneumonia, bronchitis, empyema or coughing, N-acetyl-cysteine levels are found to be quite low in the lung. Taking N-acetyl-cysteine daily with a small bite to eat may greatly reduce symptoms of lung conditions. If you suffer from a liver condition, N-acetyl-cysteine will be there to help restore health to your liver as well by helping it eliminate the toxins which are harming it.
Dr Ben recommends taking 1 capsule of N-acetyl-cysteine with a small amount of food in the evening right before bed as a preventative against daily toxin exposures and to increase the health of your lungs, liver and immune system.
N-acetyl-l-cysteine derivative of the amino acid cysteine is often used as the preferred substrate for intracellular glutathione synthesis. It also assists liver detoxification mechanisms, provides cellular antioxidant protection, and is much safer than cysteine.

Take 1 to 2 capsules daily throughout the year as general detoxification support. It is recommended to take this product with a multivitamin. To assist with lung infections or lung conditions, take 1 to 6 capsules three times a day with a large glass of water. At higher doses, eat a small amount of food.
Warnings
Keep out of reach of children. Do not use if full-bottle shrink wrap is broken or missing. Store in a cool, dry place (59-85 degrees) away from direct sunlight. Higher doses of NAC may cause symptoms of heartburn. To avoid this, eat a small amount of food and drink a full cup of water.
I have been taking this for about two months. It has helped me kick a cold I had been trying to fight off for a while. It helps to eliminate the toxins and phlegm as well. Thank you!

Hello!
I would like to emphasize – start slowly and ease into it. It is very important to understand this point. If people try to reverse a slew of symptoms by swallowing a ton of supplements in high amounts, it is definitely going to backfire. One at a time and evaluate how your son is handling the supplement. Then increase the amount taken if needed, particularly with the multivitamin, which I believe I already discussed with you.
The NAC is 500 mg per capsule, so I would start with a ½ capsule to get close to the 300mg per day. Consider mixing the powder with some organic applesauce or some other food in which it will mix easily. Take it with a little food, but not a huge meal. Drink water with it. Side effects of taking too much NAC include dry eyes or dry mouth. NAC thins mucus production. If this is the case, reduce the dose or just take some time off taking it for a while. Just a side note, if your son has asthma, you may want to reconsider giving NAC.
I am not familiar with the product by Holistic Health; however, when I look at the label, I see it does not contain the same ingredients as in the other two supplements (NAC and multivit) so he wouldn’t be getting any “double doses.” As far as nutrient interactions go, please consult your son’s doctor.
I cannot prescribe treatment for MTHFR. Your physician has to do that. I hope you have a doctor who has experience treating MTHFR, and if so, you are probably in good hands as long as the doctor understands all the supplements your son is getting on a regular basis.
