Digestion GB by Pure Encapsulations contains digestive enzymes, bile salts, taurine and herbal extracts to promote healthy gall bladder function and fat utilization. The metabolism of fats involves emulsification and digestion in a complex process that requires healthy liver, gallbladder and pancreas function. Milk thistle, curcumin and taurine promote liver and gallbladder health and stimulate production and secretion of bile acids. Bile acids, also provided in the form of ox bile salts, support the emulsification of fats necessary for digestion. The digestive enzymes included in this formula are active in a broad pH range to support fat, carbohydrate and protein digestion to complement pancreatic enzyme activity. This formula has enhanced lipase for extra fat digestion support.

    • This pure encapsulations digestion gb looks like you need a gall bladder for it to work right, and I don't have a gall bladder, so would the bile salts take the place of my gall bladder or be helpful if I don't have one or is this the one I would need? I am also diabetic. I do not take meds at this time, so would the ability to break down carbs make it better or worse for me as far as glucose?
    • Hi there,

Even without a gallbladder, your liver will still produce bile, and your intestines will still use it to break down fat.  But instead of the bile being stored in the gallbladder and released in a rush when you eat a fatty meal, bile will continuously drip from the liver directly into the small intestine.  Regarding the function of the digestion GB, you don't want to stimulate production and secretion of more bile acid.  Are you experiencing digestive problems since you had your gallbladder removed?  If yes, consider some lifestyle changes that can help ease digestive symptoms when you’re living without a gallbladder:

      • Adopt a low-fat diet
      • Avoid eating fatty foods, such as fried foods
      • Eat small, frequent meals
      • Avoid eating a very large dinner after fasting all day

If you are diabetic and are somehow able to increase your ability to break down carbohydrates, that is beneficial. Which product are you referring to with your question about this?  Let me know and I am happy to help you further.
