    The knee bone connected to the thigh bone, and the thigh bone connected to the hip bone... Joints are formed where the surfaces of bones meet. There are about 400 joints in the human body, needed to experience a full range of motion in our bodies. 

    Joints can be immovable, holding together bones with a fibrous tissue, like in our skulls. They can also be slightly movable,like in our spine. Lastly, joints can be freely movable, like our hip and knee joints, allowing us to run, jump, and even hula hoop. Joints are held together by fibers called ligaments, which hold bones in place and limits joint movement. 

    Joint related conditions can be a result of repetitive overuse, like tennis elbow, or can be a result of a disorder, such as rheumatoid arthritis or psoriatic arthritis. 

    Eating foods rich in calcium, phosphorus, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins A, D, and K can help to support joints. Chondroitin and glucosamine are two compounds found in joints, and can be made by the body if you eat plenty of leafy green vegetables. Herbs with anti-inflammatory properties, like boswellia, ginger, and turmeric, have a long history of use for joint support in Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
