Seeking Health Lactase Drops

Lactose intolerance occurs when there is a defficiency of the lactase enzyme, normally produced by the cells lining the small intestine. Lactase breaks down lactose into simpler forms of sugar, which are absorbed into the blood stream. Those with lactose intolerance are unable to sufficiently digest lactose, resulting in uncomfortable symptoms after consuming milk products.

Symptoms of lactose intolerance usually occur between 30 minutes and 2 hours after the consumption of milk or milk products, and can range from mild to sever.

Symptoms of Lactose Intolerance include:

  • • Abdominal Pain
  • • Abdominal Bloating
  • • Gas
  • • Diarrhea
  • • Nausea

Lactose Intolerance can develop over time, beginning around age 2 when the body naturally begins to produce less lactase. Research shows a possible genetic link to this sort of intolerance. Lactose Intolerance can also develop as a side effect of illness such as celiac disease, Crohn's disease, or chemotherapy. Lactose intolerance in children under the age of 2 may be attributed to illness more so than genetic predisposition.

Commercial milk products are sold with the lactase enzyme added for easier digestion, but are often much more expensive than their non-enzymated counterparts.

One bottle of Lactase Drops allows you to make your own lactose-free dairy products at home; makes up to 10 gallons of lactose-free milk!

To use Lactase Drops to make your own lactose-free dairy products, simply drop the liquid directly into your milk carton, or any liquid lactose-containing product, and shake to combine. A typical dose is 5 drops per pint.

Lactase Drops can also be placed into water or juice, directly on the food, or dropped onto the tongue just prior to, during, or immediately after eating lactose containing products to assist digestibility.

Enjoy milk, cream, ice cream, cottage cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, butter, whipped cream, sour cream, or powdered milk again.

Many processed foods contain milk and milk products; often added as a preservative or to increase the flavor of foods that you typically would not think contain milk.

Foods that often contain milk or milk products:

  • • Bread and baked goods
  • • Waffles, pancakes, doughnuts, toaster pastries, and other breakfast rolls
  • • Processes breakfast cereals
  • • Instant soups, instant potatoes, instant breakfast drinks
  • • Potato chips or corn chips
  • • Processed meats such as bacon, sausage, lunch meats or hot dogs
  • • Salad dressings
  • • Protein powders and protein bars
  • • Candies
  • • Liquid coffee creamers
  • • French fries from fast food restaurants

Lactose can even be found in prescription medications, birth control pills, and over the counter medications to treat stomach acid or gas. The very medications you take to treat your lactose intolerance can lead to more lactose intolerance!

Seeking Health Lactase Drops allow the entire family to safely enjoy milk products again, and can prevent lactose intolerance symptoms immediately if lactose is inadvertantly consumed.

Lactase Drops are safe for all ages, and the sweet-tasting liquid is easy to administer to infants and children with its easy dropper delivery system.

Helpful Tips to administer Lactase Drops to infants:

  • • Add 3-5 drops to one pint of formula for infants with lactose intolerance
  • • Place one drop directly into the mouth of your infant before breast feeding
  • • Add 3-5 drops of bottled breast milk for infants

If you are freezing breast milk for later use, add Lactase Drops to the milk and allow 24 hours for the enzyme to digest the lactose in the milk before freezing.

The digestive enzymes in Lactase Drops will not work in freezing temperatures. Always allow 24 hours for the drops to work in the milk product before freezing.

The lactase enzyme in Lactase Drops is suspended in a sweet glycerin base that does require refrigeration after being opened. Unopened bottles of Lactase Drops do not require refrigeration, but doing so will extend the shelf life.

About Seeking Health, the company

Dr. Ben Lynch, founder and Chief Medical Officer of Seeking Health, is a naturopathic physician. While majoring in Cell and Molecular biology at the University of Washington, Dr. Ben took a trip through the South Pacific and Southeast Asia that changed his outlook on traditional medicine, and his life.

During this trip, Dr. Ben hiked through the forests, mountains and coasts of Tasmania, worked a cattle ranch in the Outback of Australia, and volunteered with Mother Theresa in Calcutta. He lived in Fiji with a family having no electricity or plumbing, experienced the Himalayan Mountains of Northern India, worked a fruit orchard in New Zealand, and returned to America with an impression of a different form of medicine than he had ever experienced with his mainstream medical education.

This profound experience led Dr. Ben to Bastyr University, and he studied the Mind-Body Connection, Environmental Medicine, Functional Medicine, and Epigenetics.

Dr. Ben saw the huge need for people to obtain foundational nutrients, and Seeking Health was born. Without foundational nutrients, biochemical dysfunction occurs and causes symptoms. Doctor after doctor and person after person do not understand the absolute requirement for our bodies to have the tools to maintain function.

  • • Without water, we die.
  • • Without food, we die.
  • • Without probiotics, we get digestive disorders.
  • • Without multivitamins, we become depressed, fatigued and sick.

“If one supports their bodily systems, especially their digestion and mental health, with pure, highly absorbable, well-formulated nutrients, the ability to remain healthy and vital significantly increases. We want your foundation rock solid and we provide the tools to do so.”

-Dr. Ben Lynch, founder of Seeking Health

Seeking Health believes that the root cause for many health conditions and supplements stem from ineffective digestion, environmental exposures, poor diet, and lack of a healthy social outlet and inlet.

  • • Once digestion is restored and optimized with the best probiotics, digestive enzymes, stomach acid and intestinal repair nutrients, one is able to absorb nutrients from foods and high quality multivitamins.
  • • Once environmental exposures are reduced, one is able to reduce toxic burden which then frees up nutrients to work in promoting health and preventing disease.
  • • Once diet is optimized, nutrients flood in, energy increases, blood sugar stabilizes and the immune system balances.
  • • Creating a social outlet and inlet allows the parasympathetic nervous system to regain control over the reactive sympathetic nervous system, allowing countless nutrients to be used proactively and in a protective manner instead of being wasted on producing stress hormones.

Seeking Health is here to see you get better, and stay better. Their true passion is prevention.

Seeking Health is based in Bellingham, Washington and operated and managed by a team dedicated to bringing you better health through the best quality supplements, prebiotics, probiotics, and multivitamins.

Seeking Health brings you effective formulas produced without preservatives, colors, titanium dioxide, coloring, or gluten.

Suggested Use
Suggested Dosing of Lactase Drops to digest 70% of lactose after 24 hours of refrigeration:

  • Add 5 drops of Lactase Drops per pint or per liter of milk (depends on your level of lactose intolerance),
  • Add 1 to 2 dropperfuls of Lactase Drops per gallon of milk,
  • Reduced fat milk contains more lactose than raw milk so one may add less Lactase Drops to whole milk or raw milk.

To use fewer Lactase Drops per pint or per gallon, allow up to 30 hrs before consumption occurs. There is no benefit to wait longer than 30 hours as the lactase enzyme already consumed all the lactose it can.

Experiment with the number of drops. The recommended amount of 5 drops is enough to digest 70% of the lactose in one pint of milk after 24 hours. Some people may need less and some need more. We are currently undergoing testing to see if we can digest 70% of lactose in 1 liter of milk.

To consume other lactose-containing products, mix the necessary amount of Lactase Drops in 3 ounces of water or juice prior to eating, or as recommended by a health professional.

One may add the necessary amount of Lactase Drops directly to milk, whey protein concentrate, cottage cheese, half and half, cream, ice cream, cheese, breast milk, sour cream and kefir.

Breast milk: Add 1 drop per 100 mL of breast milk and after 12 hours, most of the lactose will be gone. Again, each individual is different. One infant may need more and another infant less.

If symptoms of diarrhea, gas and bloating remain after increasing the amount of Lactase Drops, consult your physician.

Refrigeration is not needed after opening, but the shelf life of Lactase Drops will be increased by 6 months if refrigerated.

  1. Work great and cost effective! Review by Greg

These drops really work. They are an absolute necessity for anyone that likes milk, but has Lactose Intolerance. They are also cost effective. (Posted on 11/6/12)

  2. Fantastic! Better than Lactaid pills Review by Calixta A.

The quality and effectiveness of the Lactase drops are awesome. In my opinion it works better than Lactaid Pills. It super convinient to add the drops to the gallon of milk. I dont have to worry about the lactose everytime I make the bottles for my 3 1/2 and 2 yrs old. I have also given the lactase drops to my 4 months old baby before feeding him his formula, five to seven drops in his mouth and he is ready to drink his bottle. I just wish you guys would bring back the 1 oz bottles back. I highly recomend this drops to everyone! (Posted on 11/6/12)

  6. Great Product Review by Rico

It is almost impossible to find lactose free fresh milk here in Singapore. Even the UHT version is only available in certain supermarkets and let's not even begin to talk about the cost of lactose free milk.

This product is a life saver. Now, I am able to enjoy cereal with milk and have a caffe latte every morning. I've never been able to do so since I was a kid without running to the toilet immediately after.

This product really works! (Posted on 10/17/12)

  7. Great stuff Review by Cindy

I did my own analysis of regular milk plus the lactose drops vs Lactaid and it looks like I will save over $200 per year (as long as they don't raise the price!!!!) (Posted on 10/17/12)

  8. great product Review by sharon

I recently ordered these drops because there are so many dairy products that I like to use for cooking but are not sold as lactose free. I buy organic milk and just add the drops. It works great. I also use it to make my own ice cream. (Posted on 10/17/12)

  9. It works. Review by Manas

  10. Best Value and a Great Product Review by Donna

Very please with this product and appreciate the efforts your company went through to develope it after the original was no longer available. These drops are very hard to find, and in our area can only be perchased online. They work fantastically for our grandson. He has no side effects and can drink milk and eat all dairy products without any of the horrific lactose related health issues. Your website is very easy, secure and convenient to use. We had tried the easily accessable products such as Lactaid milk, it was very expensive and it did not break down the milk enough to keep our grandson from his lactose intolerant symptoms, one of which is an extremely painful diaper rash that no diaper rash treatment will even give the smallest amount of relief from, it has to be cleared up with prescription steriods. These drops keep that from happening!!! And since he was only one year old when we had to change him from his soy formula, using the tablets was not a workable option either. We did try soy milk, and once again the cost was rediculous with milk still being his primary food source at that age, and it still didn't eliminate all of the problems. My daughter and I can't say enough about how happy we are with this product. My grandson's over all health and attitude improved with continued use. No more tummy aches and no more painful rash!

  11. Lactase Drops let me enjoy health benifits of Goats milk Review by Adkgal

I have multiple Auto immune issues. Thus I have a very high imflammation rate. I did quite a bit of reading and found out that Goats milk has highly antiflammatory qualities. I even brought my own goats!! I was fine for a while but notice I was lactose intolerant to the goats milk. So I found your drops and now I can drink my Goats milk and feel better.

  12. Really works and saves $$ Review by MDdairy-free

I wanted to wait a few months of testing before adding a review to make sure it works - it does - using a medicine dropper (complimentary from local pharmacy) I add 2 ml per gallon of milk. I need mine 99%+ lactose-free so I let it sit for 5 days - no problems. I also treat cream to make lactose-free ice cream. Costs so much less than buying the pretreated milk at the grocery.

I used to take pills but they were hit and miss. After trying Lactase drops I am a sold on this product. I love that I can drink milk once again. I no longer have to use soy milk to enjoy cereal in the morning. I only wish it came in a larger bottle. Thank you for Lactase. (Posted on 10/17/12)

  14. Good Stuff Review by Sunshine

Work great in jugs of milk. I buy organic milk now with no worries. Read the criticism of the earlier batch. I have had no trouble with this new batch and I am very sensitive. (Posted on 10/17/12)

  15. Outstanding Success! Review by Randy

I have suffered with severe daily intolerance for 20 years. It only takes a trace of dairy product to make me instantly very ill. I have to take 2 droppers full of Lactase Drops to protect myself from the ill effects of eating dairy products. The results have been amazing! The product I took before was in a tablet form and had become ineffective. So I am most grateful for your fine product.

  16. This really works !! Review by KWendt

I just discovered these drops . . and I am thrilled !! My morning routine starts with 2 shots of espresso with 1/2 and 1/2 . . . without this I won't get up in the morning. But of course the 1/2 and 1/2 caused me to have massive intestinal upset all day. I put 10 drops into a quart of 1/2 and 1/2 and not even 24 hours later I added it to my coffee and had no problems whatsoever. I encouraged 2 other lactose intolerant people to try it too, and they reported no intestinal problems. The next test is to get my son, who is way more sensitive than I, to try the regular (i.e. not Lactaid) milk that I have added drops to. So far so good - - I love this product.

  17. Amazing product Review by Margaret B

We used to buy organic lactose free milk but the prices keep going up and the milk comes from halfway across the country. Now, we can make our own from locally produced organic milk for much less and be more environmentally sensitive in the bargain. Thanks for offering a great product.

  18. Welcome back to my life dairy! Review by Meems

These drops work very well. I've tried lactose pills in the past and they were not very effective. I have been putting drops in a gallon milk container, or putting some drops in a cup of water prior to consuming dairy products and I've had no negative effects.

Other family members are also severely lactose intolerant and have been able to consume all dairy products with the help of these drops.

Finding relief for my toddler when she did consume diary products was a challenge. She would not chew the tablets at all. She doesn't appear to show discomfort and pain when these drops are used!! (Posted on 10/17/12)

  37. Really works! Review by Tashfeen

I put in the recommended amount of drops into my gallon of whole milk, wait 24 hours, and then go crazy! It isn't a perfect solution, but I'd say it works ~80-85% of the way, of course this is with a large pizza + a big glass of milk, I'm sure it's better if I didn't do a lactose overdose like that.

  53. Lactase drops much easier on the pocketbook Review by Gigi

I enjoy using these lactase drops. I can treat much more milk for less money than it costs me to buy Lactaid or equivalent brands. An additional benefit is that I can treat other things like cream cheese, ricotta, cottage cheese, etc. They are fairly easy to use. The only thing that could be improved for me, is to offer a higher concentration.

I have pregnancy induced lactose intolerance which has made even minor dairy consumption impossible. I can't even eat bread made with dairy. Since I need my calcium, I was drinking lactose free milk from the store but it is so expensive. I read about these drops and decided to use them and I am SOOO happy that I did! The drops work wonderfully and it is so much cheaper to make my own lactose free milk. Thanks again for such a great product!

I used them in bottles of breast milk for my lactose sensitive little one. They seemed to work, although it was trial and error on how many drops to use per ounce. Once I figured it out, my baby was much happier and I was happier to be giving him breast milk instead of formula.

My wife is severely lactose intolerant. She has only been able to drink Lactaid or equivalent milk for the past 5 years. We tried this product for the first time yesterday in a 1/2 gallon of skim milk. We followed the dosing instructions (28 drops for ½ gallon) and it worked great! Hopefully it will work with other foods she hasn’t been able to enjoy for a long time!

  68. lactase drops Review by marymary

The drops are effective when I put five drops on my first bite of dairy food, any less does not work for me. I am only using this product to eat dairy not drink milk. The short expiration date was disconcerting as I missed this info upon ordering. (Posted on 10/17/12)

  69. Wish it had more info Review by Beth

Although the drops are working well it takes some time to figure out how much to use with each product, ie: milk, yogurt, sour cream. I wish there was more information on a range of amount to use per pint or something. I realize this is probably different for each person but a starting point would be helpful. Otherwise good product! (Posted on 10/17/12)

My son has lactose intolerance, and these drops have helped a lot! Mostly I use them when he is going to eat something with cheese in it, normally at dinner time. I have also used it in milk a couple times, and he didn't complain of a stomach ache! I will take these with me when we travel for all of the unexpected dairy-filled circumstances!

  72. Lactase drops allow us to give our twins the latase milk they need without clearing out our bank account. Review by Mom of Twins

We know there to be a history of lactose intolerance in my husband's family, so when our twins turned 1 year we talked to our pediatrician about our concerns to switching from formula to milk for their diet. She recommended Lactase milk or drops. The price of the milk sent me into shock, one half gallon of Lactaid milk was more than a gallon of regular milk. With the twins drinking 3-4 gallons a week we knew we couldn't afford that. After searching online we found Seeking Health Lactase Drops and ordered a bottle straight away. Now the babies can drink as much milk as they want and it won't put us in the poorhouse. Adding the drops to the dairy products has made such a difference in our lives. Thanks so much & keep up the good work.

  76. Life saver & life changer for our 1 year old. Review by Mommy of 3

I have been using this product with my infant as well as my 1 year old. My 1 year old is not "just a little" lactose intolerant, she is severely lactose intolerant.

Her doctor states she may actually be allergic to lactose due to the fact she was getting hives & eczema while exposed to regular milk. As an infant on regular formula she had horrible peeling rashes & projectile vomiting with any product that contained milk (took a while to figure out what was actually wrong). When she needed milk for fat and calories buying the lactose free milk in the stores was eating a hole in my wallet.

One day on a whim I read the side of the carton of lactose free milk, thinking that the making of this milk must be some complicated process for the $$$ mark up in price, nope it simply said lactase enzyme added. I went online & found Lactase Drops by Seeking Health.

I know it is working because our child isn't vomiting. I am now even making her lactose free yogurt that she can enjoy & as her parent I can afford.

Yes, hands down this Lactase Drops by Seeking Health works if you follow the directions correctly. I will be buying this happily for a long time.

    Great stuff!

We can now enjoy milk from local dairy farmers. We can make whipped cream that poses no difficulties. We mix it in with sour cream and cream cheese. In summer we make misery-free ice cream. We've got our shopping schedule worked out so that we have whatever treated dairy we need/want while new stuff is curing. Never tried it in water as a preventative tonic, but as treatment for dairy products Lactase Drops by Seeking Health has made our lives a zillion times tastier!

I bought the Lactase Drops for my 16 year old daughter who is lactose intolerant and missing so much of a kids traditional fun diet of Pizza, Mac & Cheese, etc. We heard from our doctor (also lactose intolerant) about the drops being available in the late 90s, but no longer. So we were delighted to find them here at HealthEGoods. Now my daughter is able to enjoy all her formerly off-limits foods with only occasional, mild stomach irritation. The Lactase Drops aren't perfect for all foods, but they surely are a solid 90% solution.

Three people in my household are lactose intolerant and my oldest son won't drink commercial lactose-free milk because he says it tastes too sweet. However, if I put the Lastase Drops into regular milk, he drinks it with no complaints. These drops are also wonderful for all of the dairy products that don't come in lactose-free varieties (like cream cheese, half-n-half, yogurt, etc...) I can put the drops in 24 hours before consuming (or before cooking or baking with them) and nobody's tummy hurts.

  100. Now I can make and eat Ice Cream!!!! Review by David

One of the unpleasant realities of getting older for many people includes losing the ability to digest the natural sugar in milk, lactose. Most children and young adults produce an enzyme, lactase, that breaks down milk so our bodies can use it. But as we age, many people don't produce lactase in sufficient quantity to digest lactose. If you have wondered

why eating some foods gives you gas when they didn't bother you in your youth, read the labels and look for milk products within. You know that ice cream, cheese and yogurt contain milk, but also most desserts, baked goods, and other manufactured foods contain either milk, cream, butter or lactose. Lactose is sometimes used as an alternative to sucrose (sugar) to sweeten foods.

There are two ways that lactose-intolerant people can eat milk products without gas discomfort: by adding lactose to the food, or taking a lactose pill while eating the food. The problem with the pill is it does not have sufficient time to break down all the lactose when it is already in your stomach. However, if you add lactase 24 hours in advance to any kind of milk (e.g., whole, 2%, 1%, nonfat) or cream, the enzyme has time to break down the lactose.

I just made ice cream by adding Liquid Lactase to the milk and cream before putting them in the ice cream maker, and I enjoyed ice cream without any discomfort! Homemade ice cream is also all natural--no gums, stabilizers and fillers that many commercial ice creams have. You can also make lactose-free butter using cream. Butter is simply churned cream, so you can add Liquid Lactase to cream and shake it into butter in about 20-30 minutes. It helps to have a partner share this exercise if your arms tire easily. If you like salt in your butter, add it to the cream before shaking it.

Another bonus to making your own lactose-free milk is that it is less expensive than buying pre-made brands!

  102. Work Great! Review by Chris

Work exactly as described...and economical too! With a 1/2 gallon of Lactaid Milk costing twice that of a gallon of regular milk, using Lactase Drops makes absolute sense. At 15 drops per gallon, one bottle will treat about a dozen gallons of milk. Works like a charm - give it about 24 hours and those enzymes do a great job. Happy to be able to drink "real" milk again...and happier to be saving about $5 bucks per trip to the grocery store.

  103. Effective Lactose Removal Review by DianeD

Our son is lactose intolerant and since he is still under 5 the liquid lactose is what the pediatrician recommends to treat milk, sour cream etc. I was so frustrated when the other brand of liquid lactose was removed from the market, and we couldn't find liquid lactase anywhere. We were back to buying very expensive lactose-free milk and not being able to enjoy sour cream, ricotta, yogurt, etc. I was really happy when this new product came out and I have not been disappointed by it. It come in a big bottle and 7 drops per 1 pint of milk worked perfect for us. We have also added it to many other dairy products with great success, my son has been able to enjoy all his favorite dairy products with no gas, or bathroom problems. We calculated out the cost and it saves us a lot of money every week over buying the lactose free milk. We will be repeat customers for sure.

  105. Really helps our baby to digest lactose Review by Oscar S

Our baby's pediatrician suggested to try Lactase Drops on our recently born son that was diagnosed lactose intolerant. Lactase Drops have helped him digest lactose and colic has reduced considerably. He's not as fuzzy as he used to be. Mom also needed to quit all diary but she's at least able to drink milk using the same drops. I will strongly recommend using these drops on babies that have problem digesting lactose (in our case we used 2 drops on his mouth before each feeding). Good luck!

Your best price appears to be 6 bottles, but will the cultures last, considering the consumption and storage temperature I provided.

  • Immediate use?? at 10/6/11 10:58 PM
    • Use of the drops in the normal way -- to convert refrigerated milk -- is as expected.

But I'm confused by the alternative method described of taking the liquid (mixed in some water/juice) immediately with other foods.

My understanding is that drops that will work to convert milk in the refrigerator will be broken down by stomach acid if you try to take them immediately and be useless.

And vice versa, that for some reason you can't just crush typical immediate-use lactase pills and put them in milk to convert it in the refrigerator.
    • If you eat some food with Lactase Drops, the pH of the stomach goes up from its usual pH of 1 to 3. Dairy products are quite thick and protective so taking Lactase Drops at the time of eating should be ok. You will know by experiencing zero symptoms of lactose intolerance. Lactase pills are covered with 'fatty' substances such as magnesium stearates which make them not mix well in liquid. That said, they will not effectively convert lactose into digestible sugars. I have not heard of people having issues taking Lactase Drops immediately during meals instead of letting them soak for 12 to 24 hours. In fact, we have video testimonials of people using Lactase Drops at the time of eating dairy and experiencing great results: http://www.youtube.com/user/SeekingHealthTV Do post your feedback how they work for you when taken directly. • I have a two year old that loves dairy products. If he were to eat something that is dairy or or has diary in it and I want to give him the drops orally, does he need to take five drops or less? I know his portion sizes are small soI didn't want to give him more than he would need. So far I have been giving him 5 drops whenever he has something containing dairy and the results have been wonderful, but I'm wondering if I'm giving him more drops than he needs.
    • Hello - Great question. I am glad to hear you are experiencing great results. I agree though - it is best to optimize the amount used as much as possible. In short, yes - you may likely use less Lactase Drops than you are now. It is useful to know how much lactose is in certain foods as well - review this informative page: http://uvahealth.com/services/digestive-health-1/images-and-docs/lactosecontent.pdf Cheese has very little lactose while dry powdered milk has the most. In time, you will know how much you have to give him. Remember also that you can give probiotics to help restore the beneficial bacteria which breakdown lactose. As the probiotics take hold and increase in population in his digestive system, you likely can use less Lactase Drops as well. If your child is 3 or above, consider giving him 1 capsule of ProBiota 12 after dinner each evening. The beneficial bacteria in ProBiota 12 assist in the breakdown of lactose, support a healthy immune system, help bind toxins and assist in maintaining healthy bowel movements. http://www.healthegoods.com/probiota-12-maximum-support-50-billion-cfus-twelve-species-probiotic-60-vegetarian-capsules-seeking-health.html If he cannot swallow pills very well, consider giving him 1/16th to 1/8th of a teaspoon ProBiota 12 Powder each evening after dinner. http://www.healthegoods.com/pro-biota-12-powder-maximum-support-200-billion-cfus-twelve-species-60-grams-seeking-health.html If your child is under 3 yrs old or breastfeeding still, consider using ProBiota Infant. You may give it a shot and let me know how it works fro you ;) It is intended to digest lactose sugars and is in a base of glycerin so it may not be the best choice for making your own facial enzyme though - due to the glycerin sugar. I would rather you try something like the Heviz Moor Mud Mask as it is very effective for improving the skin. http://www.healthegoods.com/moor-mud-mask-100-ml-torf.html If you want a comprehensive enzyme blend, consider Pro-Digestion: http://www.healthegoods.com/pro-digestion-120-vegetarian-capsules-1.html or Pro-Digestion Intensive: http://www.healthegoods.com/pro-digestion-intensive-120-vegetarian-capsules.html If you use these, mix in a base of olive oil or coconut oil - or perhaps even just water. • How Much To Use at 1/27/12 10:19 AM
    • Hello Dr. Ben,

How many drops of Lactase should be used for 6 oz. servings for an infant? This is added to breast milk that has been frozen in 6 oz. containers.
    • Hello - Try 2 drops per 6 oz. Suggested amount is 4 drops per pint which is about 16 oz. Keep in mind that the lactase enzyme works faster in higher temperatures - just don't exceed 90 degrees or so as the enzyme denatures about 110 degrees or so. You may safely use more if you see a need. I highly recommend the use of ProBiota Infant for your little one. Use 1/4 teaspoon after breast feeding or bottle feeding at night. There are numerous reasons for the use of probiotics in infants - 1) reduce lactose intolerance 2) improve immune function 3) improve digestive function 4) reduce susceptibility to overgrowth of yeast/bacteria 5) reduce incidence of dermatitis 6) reduce absorption of BPA and other toxins and heavy metals You may find ProBiota Infant here: http://www.healthegoods.com/pro-biota-infant-powder-60-grams-seeking-health.html Best Dr Ben

  • Can you feeze Lactase Drops? at 5/3/12 1:19 PM
    • Hello,

I wanted to order a large quantity. Can I freeze the unopened bottles to extend the shelf life?
    • Hello,

No, you should not freeze Lactase Drops. Lactase Drops contain live enzymes. Freezing, or storing at elevated temperatures will kill the enzyme. We recommend storing in the refridgerator for maximum shelf life.

  • Safe Supplement? at 5/17/12 9:32 AM
    • I have a 2 year old who hasn't been officially diagnosed with lactose intolerance., but experiences many of the symptoms after dairy. He drinks exclusively almond/soy milk and vegan cheese. Occasionally, he has mac and cheese or grilled cheese and he immediately experiences intolerant symptoms. Is your product a safe supplement to avoid lactose, on an emergency olnly basis, for a toddler?
    • Hello -

Lactase Drops is very safe and may be used to determine if the symptoms relate to lactose or not.

If you notice symptoms not improving after using Lactase Drops, then you should suspect an actual dairy allergy or intolerance vs lactose intolerance.

I highly recommend the use of these additional products to help aide his digestion along with supporting his digestive health:

      1) ProBiota 12: consider 1 capsule after dinner (you may also open the capusle and place contents directly into his mouth. He will likely enjoy the taste).

      2) Pro-Digestion Intensive: consider giving him 1/2 chewable tablet with meals that you suspect may be causing him digestive issues.

Again, it is a matter of identifying between lactose intolerance vs food intolerance.

The two most common food intolerances are: dairy and wheat. Considering that he not responding favorably to mac-n-cheese or grilled cheese makes me highly suspect the wheat and dairy - vs lactose intolerance - but it could be both - or one of them.

    • how many gallons of milk can I get with one vial? if im useing 56 drops per gallon.
    • Hello,

Our basic estimate is 10 gallons of lactose free milk can be made from one bottle of Lactase Drops. This will fluctuate depending on how many drops you use per gallon. Some people are able to use fewer drops of Lactase Drops than others, depending on the level of your intolerance.

Are there any side effect from this lactose drops? Thank you for your concern and your fast reply Doctor. I will wait for your fast answer wether its from my mail or from this site. Thank you. Regards, Teguh - Indonesia
    • Hi Teguh -

There are a few things to consider.

Infant colic may be due to many things - and many different types of foods.

If you are breast feeding your daughter, be sure to eliminate any foods which cause you gas and bloating as they may cause her to have stomach discomfort or infant colic.

      That's first.

Second, if you are giving her formula, evaluate the quality of the formula as many - sadly - are terrible. I recommend using goat milk formula, breastmilk or what your doctor recommends.

      Now - for Lactase Drops:

      - Yes, using Lactase Drops may immediately improve her sleep disturbance if her colic is due to lactose. Given that you are in Indonesia, the likelihood of lactose intolerance is quite high - due to your ancestry and genetics.

The best way to use Lactase Drops is to add 5 drops into 1 pint of milk and allow it to sit overnight.

For 150 ml of milk, you will use 3 drops of Lactase Drops and then allow the milk to sit overnight - for best effect.

If you are breastfeeding, then you simply place a drop or two directly in her mouth just before she starts feeding.

I also recommend the use of ProBiota Infant.

Provide 1/4 teaspoon of ProBiota Infant in the evening after her meal. The beneficial bacteria in ProBiota Infant may support her digestion allowing her colic symptoms to reduce.

We can ship both of you to Indonesia. I recommend USPS Priority Mail International as it is more efficient and effective than USPS First Class International.

Keep me posted how your daughter does on Lactase Drops and ProBiota Infant.

      In health,

      Dr Ben

    • I am living here in Mexico and would like to know how it is shipped to Mexico. I prefer United States Postal Service and if it takes about two weeks will it lose its potency. I would like to order about 7 bottles using PayPal which I see can be done on your web site. Thank you Bernard.
    • Hello Bernard,

For international shipping you have the option of USPS First Class Mail International (depending on weight), Priority Mail International, or FedEx with Economy or Priority International Services. Lactase Drops will not loose potency until the expiration date if unopend and not exposed to freezing or very hot temperatures. This is because Lactase Drops contain a live enzyme.

  • Using Lactase Drops at 6/26/12 1:49 PM
    • My question is about ricotta cheese. I added about 8 drops of the lactase drops to a 15 oz. container of ricotta cheese to make lasagna. I then waited two days and made the lasagna. I am now suffering symptoms that usually stem from consuming lactose. Is it to be expected that the drops would not digest the lactose in the ricotta cheese? Cottage cheese is mentioned above, so I anticipated that it would work for ricotta cheese. Was I wrong?

      Thank you. Shanon
    • Hi Shannon -

It may be because the Lactase Drops did not effectively reach all the lactose in the cheese container.

Instead, I recommend taking a supplement like Pro-Digestion Intensive during meals that have cheese in them - or fats.

You may have symptoms of fat intolerance which may be due to bile insufficiency.

Taurine is very supportive in bile salt production and is known to help those with liver and gallbladder stagnation.

Lactase Drops work best in liquid lactose-containing foods.

If you want to make your own cheese, then adding in Lactase Drops while the cheese is still runny is the best time to do so.

      Dr Ben

  • HOW MANY DROPS PER GLASS. at 8/17/12 5:33 AM
    • My daugter (25) was diagnosed lactose intolorant 2 days ago. I have purchased the lactose drops. My daughter likes milkshake (Super M) and Tropica, at times when eating out she wants a milkshake. My question is can I put the drops directly into the milshake so that she can drink it immediately, will there be any negative effect and how many drops will be suitable?

      Thank you.
    • Hello -

Your daughter may take a sip of the milkshake and then place 4 drops directly into her mouth and swallow. This will likely work best.

She also may take 3 to 4 drops of Lactase Drops and mix them into her milkshake.

Either way will work quite well.

I recommend starting at 3 to 4 drops of Lactase Drops per milkshake and then decreasing as she feels she can tolerate. It is individual how much she needs.

I highly recommend she also take one capsule of ProBiota 12 after dinner. This will provide long term benefit by increasing her tolerance to dairy products - along with other countless benefits.

  • For Lacto-Vegetarians? at 9/3/12 11:24 PM
    • Hi--I'm a Lacto-Vegetarian, and would like to know the source of the enzyme... could you tell me is the enzyme in the drops from vegetable sources or animals? How about the glycerin--is that from a vegetarian (plant based) source? Thanks.
    • Hello -

The source is vegetarian for both.

If this ever changes for whatever reason, we will update the product page.

  • Is there a maximum dosage? at 10/2/12 3:01 PM
    • I'm wondering if there is a maximum amount of Lactase we can give our 3 month old. We just received the drops today & plan to put 3 drops in his 6oz. bottles. Can we put 3 drops in EVERY bottle, or do we need to limit how much we give him?
      Thanks.
    • Hello -

It is best to use as little as needed - but 3 drops in every bottle will not harm him.

You may try 3 drops in one bottle, 2 drops in another and 1 drop in another. Find what works best.

If you support his digestion with ProBiota Infant, you will likely be able to use less Lactase Drops.

Consider giving 1/4 teaspoon of ProBIota Infant probiotic after his dinnertime feeding.
