Germanium-132 is another popular supplement used for cancer symptoms. The active compound, carboxylethyl germanium sesquioxide, is found must abundantly in the Reishi mushroom, as well as in Ginseng.

Germanium is used commonly in Japan for treatment of cancer and pain, with doses of up to 800mg/day. For preventative use, however, 100-200mg/day is sufficient.

Ge-132 activates NK cells, promotes phagocytosis, induces alpha-interferon, increases T-helper cells and improves T cell activity.

  • Auto Immune at 3/29/12 7:17 PM
    • I have had these breakouts (like welts) for 3 yrs now. It has been diagnosed as Idiopathic Chronic Urticaria. I have been told it is auto immune. The docs have placed me on all types of medications and nothing has worked. The breakouts begin as small as a mosquito bite, then grow to be very large, as large as my whole arms, foot, ect, in your opinion do you think I may benefit from these? Its worth a try right? Do you agree?
      Thank you for your time.

    • Renee - I recommend scheduling a consult so we can get more information and alter your diet, lifestyle and suggest proper supplementation that is more targeted. I don't like you wasting your money on a supplement which may or may not work. Typically idiopathic syndromes are caused by food sensitivities, nutrient deficiencies or chemical exposures or all the above. Please call 800 689 8221 to schedule a consult or you may begin do by going here: http://www.healthegoods.com/comprehensive-consult.html In health, Dr Ben

  • Germanium and Warfarin at 11/30/12 10:16 AM
    • My doctors have just found a blood clot on my lung in the past 8 days. I am on 3mg of Warfarin a day for six months, depending on my INR levels.

I started taking a product called oxy powder (oxypowder.com) about two weeks before the clot was found. It has 22mg of organic germanium in each serving. I was just about to place an order with you for the supplement Organic Germanium which sounds like an excellent supplement.

There are only certain medications that I can take while on Warfarin, I’m wondering is it safe to order and take your supplement? I am also Anemic.

Hopefully you can answer my question.
Thank you so much for your time

    • Hello -

I cannot safely recommend anything that could interfere with clotting times. These are things your physician must monitor and tightly control for your safety.  Please ask your doctor about the organic germanium.  Even though organic germanium might act against inflammation, it also acts on the heart, blood vessels, and liver.  You don’t want to take anything which could exacerbate your already dangerous condition. The sources I read say germanium can cause anemia. We have lots of good products to support iron levels, so talk to your doctor about how to treat the anemia, and return here if you have any other questions about that.  If you do eat high-iron foods or take an iron supplement, be sure to combine it with Vitamin C, which will increase the iron absorption.

At the same time, I do agree controlling your levels of inflammation is definitely supportive of reducing risk of blood clots.  Have you considered taking a probiotic?  Seeking Health carries a wonderful probiotic called Probiota 12:  http://healthygoods.com/probiota-12-maximum-support-50-billion-cfus-twelve-species-probiotic-60-vegetarian-capsules-seeking-health.html

More than 70% of your immunity is in your gut, so building your good bacteria is important.  If you do take probiotics, always take in the evening after dinner and take 2 capsules per day.  If you can, keep the probiotics refrigerated with the lid tightly closed.  Avoid handling capsules with your bare hands; it’s best to pour the capsules into the cap of the bottle.
