The minerals chosen for this formula are from Albion Advanced Nutrition, the leader in formulating truly chelated minerals with outstanding absorption. A higher intake of calcium than that supplied in OsteoForce is not necessary due to the far greater absorption of calcium bis-glycinate chelate in comparison to other non-chelated calcium salts typically supplied by other manufacturers.

    • Is this product absorbable when taken with proton pump inhibitors? I don't see calcium citrate listed, and the main calcium ingredient appears to be trademarked.

    • I contacted the company who makes this product, Design for Health, and this product does not contain Calcium Citrate.

      The proton pump inhibitor block the step involved in stomach acid production. People taking medications that reduce stomach acid — such as the proton-pump inhibitors, should take a calcium citrate supplement because cCalcium citrate does not require the presence of extra stomach acid to dissolve and be absorbed and can be taken on an empty or full stomach. On a side note, a Calcium citrate/malate combo is more bioavailable than calcium citrate alone.

      Calcium is best absorbed when taken with Vitamin D. Many supplements are produced with both calcium and Vitamin D included. Calcium should be taken in divided doses, rather than all at once. Separate doses into twice or three times daily for optimal absorption.

      Have you considered other Calcium Citrate-containing products, such as Osteogenesis ES? The calcium is a calcium citrate/malate combo and the product also contains Vitamin D, which enhances absorption.
