Pro-Metabolic for Hypothyroidism
Pro-Metabolic increases the production of thyroid hormones, which aid in the body's natural process of burning fat calories. Without this occurrence, one can experience coldness in the limbs and obesity results in some cases.Pro-Metabolic works by increasing levels of tyrosine, which synthesizes serotonin and norepinephrine. Serotonin, in turn, promotes the fat reduction.
By increasing thyroid function, Pro-Metabolic activates nuclear transcription in a significant number of genes. This activation increases protein levels in the cells, leading to cellular metabolism. The net effect is an overall generalized increase in functional activity throughout the body. Any physiological inadequacies affected by the thyroid gland or associated with hormonal functions can create fatigue, dry skin, weight gain, depression, constipation and diminished peripheral circulation.
Pro-Metabolic is composed of tyrosine, Codonopsis pilosula, Cinnamomum cassia, Poria cocos, Cordyceps sinensis, Alisma orientale, Astragalus membranaceus, zinc, copper and kelp. Cordyceps sinensis improves overall immunity and adjusts hormones. Kelp is excellent source of iodine. Zinc and copper when present in the ratio (10:1) assists in the conversion of T4 into more active T3.
Those who are taking Pro-metabolic for hypothyroidism and who find their TSHlevel is slightly below normal should not worry. According to Dr. Barnes, blood tests T2, T4 and TSH are only 30% correlated to hypothyroidism. Patients should trust their symptoms more. If the TSH level becomes extremely low, however, stop taking Pro-Metabolic for a period of time (about two weeks) and then resume.
Besides affecting thyroid hormone levels, Pro-Metabolic also influences serotonin. When the stomach is empty, a signal travels from the stomach to the brain, activating the feeling of hunger. Eating causes the production of insulin, which allows tryptophan to enter the brain. Tryptophan stimulates the production of serotonin, which then induces a happy feeling. Although this is a very subtle effect, chronic overeaters are subconsciously addicted to this serotonin-induced happy feeling. This also explains the tendency to overeat during bouts of depression.
Carbohydrates and sugars are the types of foods that trigger the productionof serotonin. The excess calories that are accumulated from overeating these types of foods become stored as fat, causing weight gain.
By indirectly increasing the production of more serotonin, Pro-Metabolic helps with weight management. If there is a plenty of serotonin in the brain, the happy feeling persists, reducing the craving for carbohydrates and sweets. For better weight management, Pro-Metabolic is taken with either Slender All or Myomin or both.

Both my mom and I have minor hypothyroidism and take this product instead of medications. It really works for my mother. (Posted on 10/17/12)
Taking Pro-Metabolic with synthroid shouldn’t interfere with the how the synthroid functions; however, I’m guessing your sister’s doctor has her synthroid at a dose which keeps her thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) within normal limits. Because Pro-Metabolic more than likely will also lower TSH, I recommend your sister tell her doctor she is interesting in starting Pro-Metabolic so her doctor can monitor her TSH levels and other thyroid levels for that matter. If she starts Pro-metabolic, she may be able to gradually reduce her synthroid dose, but like I said, this should all be closely monitored by and communicated to her doctor.
