Seeking Health 5 HTP supports mood regulation, sleep quality, and appetite control by helping serotonin to cross the blood-brain barrier. Naturally extracted from the seeds of the Griffonia plant. 100 veg caps
Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that plays an essential role in mood regulation, melatonin production, and appetite control. Many mood disorders, such as depression and anxiety, are associated with inadequate serotonin levels. Management of these disorders focuses on reestablishing healthy brain serotonin levels.
As a precursor of melatonin, a hormone that regulates the sleep-wake cycle, serotonin can exert a direct, favorable effect on sleep regulation. Low levels of serotonin can lead to low melatonin levels, and consequently to a disrupted sleep cycle and poor sleep quality. Serotonin is also a key player in appetite regulation, in part by helping to signal satiety. Additionally, research indicates that abnormal serotonin levels may play a role in both fibromyalgia and migraine headaches.
Serotonin is manufactured in the brain from the essential amino acid, tryptophan. Once carried across the blood-brain barrier, tryptophan is metabolized to serotonin via the intermediate 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP). Although serotonin is present elsewhere in the body, it is unable to cross the blood-brain barrier. Consequently, the brain must provide for all its serotonin needs through synthesis within the brain.
In order to maintain healthy serotonin levels, the brain requires an adequate supply of tryptophan. However, many obstacles can impede tryptophan transport into the brain, including competition with other amino acids for transport carriers across the blood-brain barrier, activity of the enzyme tryptophan hydroxylase (which catalyzes the conversion of tryptophan to 5-HTP), and competing needs for tryptophan elsewhere in the body. Unlike tryptophan, 5-HTP can easily cross the blood-brain barrier without a transport carrier and is transported into the brain without competition.
Experimental and clinical studies have found that 5-HTP is an effective means of raising brain serotonin levels, as well as levels of melatonin, thereby promoting beneficial changes for many individuals with low levels of these important brain chemicals.
5-HTP benefits :
Many studies have cited benefits of supplemental 5-HTP in mood regulation, sleep quality, and appetite control in individuals with mood imbalances, disrupted sleep cycles, and unhealthy weight levels, respectively.
What makes 5-HTP by Seeking Health superior to other 5-HTP supplements on the market?
50 mg of 5-HTP is supplied in each easy-to-swallow vegetarian capsule. It absorbs faster than most 5-HTP supplements and is a natural extract of the seeds of the Griffonia plant and is certified free of Peak X.
Adverse Reactions : Occasional, mild side effects have been reported, including nausea and drowsiness. This product is not recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation.

Dr. Ben Lynch, founder and Chief Medical Officer of Seeking Health, is a naturopathic physician. While majoring in Cell and Molecular biology at the University of Washington, Dr. Ben took a trip through the South Pacific and Southeast Asia that changed his outlook on traditional medicine, and his life.
During this trip, Dr. Ben hiked through the forests, mountains and coasts of Tasmania, worked a cattle ranch in the Outback of Australia, and volunteered with Mother Theresa in Calcutta. He lived in Fiji with a family having no electricity or plumbing, experienced the Himalayan Mountains of Northern India, worked a fruit orchard in New Zealand, and returned to America with an impression of a different form of medicine than he had ever experienced with his mainstream medical education.
This profound experience led Dr. Ben to Bastyr University, and he studied the Mind-Body Connection, Environmental Medicine, Functional Medicine, and Epigenetics.
Dr. Ben saw the huge need for people to obtain foundational nutrients, and Seeking Health was born. Without foundational nutrients, biochemical dysfunction occurs and causes symptoms. Doctor after doctor and person after person do not understand the absolute requirement for our bodies to have the tools to maintain function.
“If one supports their bodily systems, especially their digestion and mental health, with pure, highly absorbable, well-formulated nutrients, the ability to remain healthy and vital significantly increases. We want your foundation rock solid and we provide the tools to do so.”
-Dr. Ben Lynch, founder of Seeking Health
