Seeking Health Active B12 Lozenge with L-5-MTHF (previously known as Sublingual Active B12 with Metafolin) combines high-potency amounts of the active forms of vitamin B12 and folate in a convenient sublingual tablet. Both of these water-soluble B-vitamins work together and need to be supplied in the diet in adequate amounts to support nervous system function and help maintain the normal metabolism of homocysteine, a potentially toxic amino acid metabolite that damages arteries.
Why choose Active B12 Lozenges with L-5-MTHF by Seeking Health ?
Absorption of vitamin B12 is facilitated by intrinsic factor, a natural protein produced by the parietal cells of the stomach lining. B12 can also be absorbed by an alternate mechanism that does not rely on intrinsic factor when high-potency amounts of 1,000 mcg or more are taken. Active B12 Lozenges with L-5-MTHF by Seeking Health provides 1,000 mcg of vitamin B12 so that individuals without adequate intrinsic factor can enhance their intake of this essential B vitamin through oral supplementation.
Is Active B12 Lozenges with L-5-MTHF the same product as Sublingual Active B12 with Metafolin?
Yes. Active B12 Lozenges with L-5-MTHF is the same product as Sublingual Active B12 with Metafolin. Seeking Health has changed the name, but the formulation is still the same. You get all the same benefits as before.
Key Benefits and actions of Active B12 Lozenges with L-5-MTHF:
Vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin:
Vitamin B12 is crucial to the formation of healthy red blood cells, energy production, nervous system support, cognitive function, and homocysteine regulation. Although cyanocobalamin is the most commonly used form of vitamin B12 in dietary supplements, it must be converted by enzymes into an active coenzyme form to be useful. Nutritional inadequacies, enzyme defects, and tissue abnormalities can reduce the body’s ability to synthesize the active forms of B12. In contrast, vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin is a “body-ready” form with metabolic benefits that may not be provided by other forms of vitamin B12. It appears that methylcobalamin may be particularly useful for individuals with impaired methylation capacity, including those with elevated homocysteine or neurological impairments.
Active form of folate :
This B-vitamin is crucial for generating red blood cells, regulating homocysteine metabolism, assisting DNA repair, and supporting neurological processes. Metafolin®* L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate (L-5-MTHF), an active form of folate, is included in this product to help ensure more immediate effects on metabolism compared to folic acid, the form of folate commonly used in fortified foods and supplements.
Active B12 Lozenges with L-5-MTHF sublingual tablets are sweetened naturally with mannitol and are free of added flavorings. The tablets dissolve in the mouth within a few minutes or may also be swallowed whole if desired. However, this supplement may be better absorbed when slowly dissolved under the tongue rather than swallowed whole. Individuals who have an increased risk for vitamin B12/folate deficiency are the elderly, vegetarians, and individuals with ulcers, Crohn’s disease, bacterial overgrowth, and other gastrointestinal disorders. This dietary supplement may be useful for individuals who may have difficulty absorbing vitamin B12 and folate and are looking for a safe and efficient method to enhance their supply of these bioactive forms of nutrients.
What makes Active B12 Lozenges with L-5-MTHF superior to other Active B12 supplements on the market?
Dietary B12 can be reliably obtained only from animal products and is a singularly difficult vitamin to absorb. Active B12 Lozenges with L-5-MTHF by Seeking Health are contained in fast-dissolving, sublingual tablets allowing quick release into the bloodstream. Folate deficiencies have been reported following bariatric surgery. This product may be especially beneficial for vegetarians and persons with impaired gastrointestinal absorptive function due to aging, illness, or surgery.

I recently underwent blood work that came back showing I am compound heterozygous for the mutations C677T and A1298C. My doctor said that I should take 4mg of folic acid daily. My research has provided me with the information to know that this is not the fix and could in fact harm me. I have decided to take this supplement in lieu of cyanocobalamin and I feel great for making that decision. The pills are pleasant tasting, do not cause dry mouth and dissolve quickly. I would recommend them to anyone considering this alternate approach. (Posted on 11/6/12)

First let me say that the tiny pink tablets taste wonderful and are a pleasure to let dissolve in your mouth. They are received by everyone as a treat. Kids love to hold them in their mouths.
My family is loaded with people crippled by folate deficiency and the accompanying physical illnesses and mental stress. These vitamins have helped my family with anxiety and neurological stress. And they are probably helping us with all the physical symptoms of folate deficiency, that we have not measured, like bad cholesterol and hardening of the arteries.
Genetic testing suggests that everyone in my family has the MTHFR C677T genes. I have two copies. I did a lot of research and thought this vitamin combination was the best on the market. I have supplied many relatives and friends with them.
I find people in my town are very receptive to the idea that these vitamins can help them with their stress. Afterall 44% of Americans have at least one MTHFR gene for folate deficiency. Some very good reports are coming in, and I am ordering more vitamins to give away. When I buy 6 bottles, the price is very affordable and the shipping is free.
When people's systems have no methylfolate, their neurons are not firing, and their poor bodies cannot function. The most visible symptom of folate deficiency is anxiety, which can take many forms such as stress, obsessive compulsive behavior, bipolar, depression, and twitching. Some people explode. Others withdraw. Some kill themselves.
All of my family is deficient in serotonin. Prescriptions that boost serotonin in other people do not work for us, and some of my people get addicted to chemicals or destructive behaviors looking for relief. We have seen many early deaths, especially from those who get addicted to alcohol or prescription medication looking for relief.
Personally, I have known extreme anxiety in my life, but in recent years changed my diet so I unknowingly got enough methylfolate to become normal. So I did not experience a great change when taking this supplement. They do not make you "high" so you cannot feel the effect. However I endured one of the most stressful months of my life, and I felt very grounded and stable. So I think the vitamins helped me. Having a steady run of happy days since taking the vitamins seems to be more than a coincidence.
Another relative went through rough surgery, expecting to experience depression, but because of these vitamins she has felt very happy about her surgery.
Two others who have explosive rants have been calm and happy. Another who is often depressive has felt sunshiny. One couple reports making love again.
A relative who has had the most extreme bipolar turned to alcohol and it is killing her. The vitamins did not make any difference for her. But then alcohol destroys B vitamins.
People in my family have some of the most famous doctors in the nation. None of them knew about the MTHFR gene nor our specific need for methylfolate. One doctor detected my Dad's B-12 deficiency, and gave him injections with the wrong kind of B-12. It did nothing to help him. I do not think they give a blood test for methyl B-12, nor an injection for it.
Until the medical community recognizes our gene type, and the specific need for the methyl forms of these two vitamins, we need people like Dr. Ben to help us.
I plead with people, if this gene runs in your family, give your kids this supplement. Do not wait until folate deficiency shows itself in emotional or developmental patterns that they may be crippled with for life. I am making sure all my grandkids get their daily requirement, and hope to get them all gene tested. We do not need to have another generation of suffering people.

I purchased these because I have a difficult time swallowing pills. They dissolve quickly and taste pretty good, so I have been very happy with these tablets. Thanks.

If it is ok with your doctor, one may take the equivalent amounts of methylfolate, methylcobalamin and vitamin B6 as found in Metanx.
One may also consider HomocysteX as it contains all three nutrients
Seeking Health does not use magnesium stearate in products that are in capsules.
Magnesium stearate is only found in products by Seeking Health which are:- chewable- sublingual- extended release
We are working on developing all products without magnesium stearate but in chewable, sublingual and extended release, it is very difficult to do so.
Since the absorption is excellent in sublingual, chewable and extended release, we are much less concerned about magnesium stearate in these products.
You will NEVER find magnesium stearate in any vegetarian capsule or gelatin capsule by Seeking Health.
