Seeking Health L-Glutamine Powder

Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in the body. Glutamine is produced in the muscles and is distributed by the blood to the organs that need it. It provides nitrogen and carbon to many different cells in the body, and is needed to make other chemicals such as other amino acids and glucose.

Stress and some health conditions can impair your body's ability produce enough glutamine, making supplementation necessary to functions such as protein synthesis and maintaining intestinal function.

Glutamine supplementation may be effective for those undergoing chemotherapy; side effects of chemotherapy such as diarrhea, pain and swelling inside the mouth, nerve pain, and muscle and joint pain may be lessened by glutamine.

l-Glutamine by Seeking Health provides support for:

  • • Protein synthesis & cellular energy
  • • Decreased Intestinal Permeability - Glutamine is the primary fuel of the cells lining the small intestine.
  • • Improved Intestinal Microbiota - Glutamine helps protect against pathogens such as Helicobacter pylori and supports beneficial intestinal microorganisms
  • • Increased Immune Response

If your ability to produce glutamine has been compromised by circumstances of physical stress, such as:

  • • Trauma
  • • Surgery
  • • Bone Marrow Transplantation
  • • Chemotherapy

...then supplementing with Seeking Health L-Glutamine powder may help your body continue to function and repair.

Contains no milk/casein, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat/ gluten, corn, yeast, soybeans, artificial flavors or preservatives.

Suggested Use: As a dietary supplement take one scoop daily or as directed by a health care professional.

About Seeking Health, the company

Dr. Ben Lynch, founder and Chief Medical Officer of Seeking Health, is a naturopathic physician. While majoring in Cell and Molecular biology at the University of Washington, Dr. Ben took a trip through the South Pacific and Southeast Asia that changed his outlook on traditional medicine, and his life.

During this trip, Dr. Ben hiked through the forests, mountains and coasts of Tasmania, worked a cattle ranch in the Outback of Australia, and volunteered with Mother Theresa in Calcutta. He lived in Fiji with a family having no electricity or plumbing, experienced the Himalayan Mountains of Northern India, worked a fruit orchard in New Zealand, and returned to America with an impression of a different form of medicine than he had ever experienced with his mainstream medical education.

This profound experience led Dr. Ben to Bastyr University, and he studied the Mind-Body Connection, Environmental Medicine, Functional Medicine, and Epigenetics.

Dr. Ben saw the huge need for people to obtain foundational nutrients, and Seeking Health was born. Without foundational nutrients, biochemical dysfunction occurs and causes symptoms. Doctor after doctor and person after person do not understand the absolute requirement for our bodies to have the tools to maintain function.

  • • Without water, we die.
  • • Without food, we die.
  • • Without probiotics, we get digestive disorders.
  • • Without multivitamins, we become depressed, fatigued and sick.

“If one supports their bodily systems, especially their digestion and mental health, with pure, highly absorbable, well-formulated nutrients, the ability to remain healthy and vital significantly increases. We want your foundation rock solid and we provide the tools to do so.”

-Dr. Ben Lynch, founder of Seeking Health

Seeking Health believes that the root cause for many health conditions and supplements stem from ineffective digestion, environmental exposures, poor diet, and lack of a healthy social outlet and inlet.

  • • Once digestion is restored and optimized with the best probiotics, digestive enzymes, stomach acid and intestinal repair nutrients, one is able to absorb nutrients from foods and high quality multivitamins.
  • • Once environmental exposures are reduced, one is able to reduce toxic burden which then frees up nutrients to work in promoting health and preventing disease.
  • • Once diet is optimized, nutrients flood in, energy increases, blood sugar stabilizes and the immune system balances.
  • • Creating a social outlet and inlet allows the parasympathetic nervous system to regain control over the reactive sympathetic nervous system, allowing countless nutrients to be used proactively and in a protective manner instead of being wasted on producing stress hormones.

Seeking Health is here to see you get better, and stay better. Their true passion is prevention.

Seeking Health is based in Bellingham, Washington and operated and managed by a team dedicated to bringing you better health through the best quality supplements, prebiotics, probiotics, and multivitamins.

Seeking Health brings you effective formulas produced without preservatives, colors, titanium dioxide, coloring, or gluten.

Questions on Seeking Health L-Glutamine Powder

Sort by Ascending
  • gastritis at 5/2/13 12:09 PM
    • Hi Dr. Ben- I've been juicing my own cabbage juice for 2 weeks now for gastritis/esophagitis problem I've had a long time(seemed to help at first, last 3 days, pain is bad). Two quick questions- 1) I want to stick with the cabbage juice. If I started doing your L-glutamine water bottle idea, would that be too much L- glutamine in a day (water bottle and cabbage juice together)?
      2) I'm also taking Protonix that doctor prescribed ( for 1 month at this point). I'm taking it because dr said if I stick with Protonix, 4-8 weeks, it will cure my problem. But hearing your info on PPI, I'm confused on what to do. Sorry for long question. Love your site! Any info would be awesome. Thanks a lot!! – Shawn
    • Hello there!

L-Glutamine has a rapid turnover rate in your body so it is necessary to replish it everyday.  I recommend adding the L-Glutamine Powder to a liter of water and sipping throughout the day and when you have bouts of reflux/burning.  It is best to add between 10 grams to 30 grams to a liter water bottle and drink throughout the day, not all at once.  Sip it.  Because you’re also drinking cabbage juice, start with the smaller quantity of L-Glutamine first - 10 grams (2 scoops) to see how you do.  If you feel you need more, increase by 1 scoop at a time.

Also consider adding 1 capsule of ZCG 500 three times daily between meals also for a few months. http://healthygoods.com/seeking-health-zcg-500.html

Also, take along with ProBiota 12 powder.  ¼ teaspoon for 1 week and then ½ teaspoon for a few weeks and then down to 1/8 teaspoon for maintenance dose.  Take about 10 minutes after dinner.  http://healthygoods.com/seeking-health-probiota-12-powder-maximum-support-200-billion-cfu-s.html

You can also take the ProBiota 12 capsules for maintenance.  http://healthygoods.com/probiota-12-maximum-support-50-billion-cfus-twelve-species-probiotic-60-vegetarian-capsules-seeking-health.html

This combination helps support a healthy stomach lining and provides beneficial bacteria which are commonly deficient in those with reflux and/or gastritis.

Avoiding certain foods, spices and drinks are also helpful:

      • avoid wheat but ideally avoiding all grains for 3 months
      • stop coffee, chocolate, caffeine, spicy foods
      • stop tea
      • eat less amount but more frequently - just smaller meals
      • chew your food very well
      • limit drinking with meals

These suggestions should help you immensely.

I am unable to answer your question about the PPI.  Sorry I’m not more help with that.

Keep me posted on how you’re doing and please let me know if I can help anymore.

  • Chronic gastritis at 9/4/12 11:22 PM
    • Dr Ben -
I suffer from very painful gastritis (Dx in 2008) and reflux. I have started taking slippery elm and lglutamine (500mg 3 or 4/day)a week ago but I take them in capsule form. Is this as effective as the powder?

      Thank you
    • Hello -

I do prefer the powder form as this likely helps coat the stomach lining better than just swallowing capsules.

I recommend adding the L-Glutamine Powder and Slippery Elm Powder to a liter of water and sipping throughout the day.

Adding 1 capsule of ZCG 500 three times daily between meals also is recommended for a few months.

Also the Saccharomyces Boulardii by Seeking Health - 2 capsules after dinner along with ProBiota 12 - 1 capsule after dinner.

Do avoid caffeine, chocolate, tomatoes, grains during this time.

      In health,

      Dr Ben

    • Actually my question is I have high blood sugar. Is it safe to use the L-Glutamine Power with High Blood sugar?
    • Hello -

I have not heard any issue between L-Glutamine Powder and it affecting blood sugar.

It is ok to take L-Glutamine Powder with high blood sugar. If anything, it will help lower blood sugar due to the protein content.

Best thing to do is monitor your blood sugar anytime you make a dietary, lifestyle or supplement change to be sure.

  • How much to use? at 6/22/12 12:13 PM
    • I'm a little confused on how much L-Glutamine powder to use in a Liter of water for Gastritis for sipping all day. Please let me know.
    • Hello -

It is best to add between 10 grams to 30 grams to a liter water bottle and drink throughout the day - NOT all at once. Sip it. It appears you understand this which is excellent.

Start low - 10 grams (2 scoops) first to see how you do. If you feel you need more, you may increase by 1 scoop at a time.

      In health,

      Dr Ben

  • L-Glutamine at 3/25/12 7:23 PM
    • I would like to know if L-Glutamine is safe for teens to use. My son is 13 years old (135 lb, 5'6"). I was told that this would help w/leaky gut among other things. Thank you once again for you help and time.

      Cathy W.
    • Hi Cathy - If your son has leaky gut, I recommend he take 1 tsp of Intestinal Repair Complex once to twice daily - between meals ideally - http://www.healthegoods.com/intestinal-repair-complex-160-g-biogenesis-nutraceuticals.html Consider taking one scoop in a glass of filtered water before breakfast and another scoop before bed. I also highly recommend taking 1 capsule of ProBiota Sensitive after dinner. Probiotics are very much needed for healthy gut integrity. http://www.healthegoods.com/probiota-sensitive.html Be sure he is also taking 2,000 IU of Vitamin D3 daily as low D3 leads to leaky gut as well. Taking 1 drop daily of Vitamin D360 OR taking 7 drops ONCE A WEEK is recommended. http://www.healthegoods.com/vitamin-d360-by-seeking-health.html These recommendations may help him a lot - Please also try to reduce the amount of wheat he consumes - avoid all if possible. • Calories at 9/9/11 5:26 PM
    • How many calories are in 1 teaspoon of l-Glutamine Powder?

      Judy
    • Judy - I have no idea. Caloric content of a nutritional supplement like Glutamine is typically not a concern. The health benefits of glutamine are significant even if the calories are high. Coconut oil and coconut butter, for example, is high in calories, but the benefits are extraordinary. I personally do not believe the 'calorie counting' is an effective way to maintain weight. It is stressful, time consuming and difficult. What makes most sense is to simply eat whole foods - not processed - as much as possible. This alone will significantly optimize your weight - if that is a concern. In health, Dr Ben
