Seeking Health ProBiota 12 Maximum Support 50+ Billion CFUs, Capsules

ProBiota 12 Maxiumum Support Capsules provide a combination of 12 different strains of beneficial bacteria vital to intestinal health and overall well-being.

Probiotic supplements contain live, "good" bacteria that replenish and maintain the essential microflora in the gut. These beneficial bacteria promote proper digestion, support immune system function, aid in the production of vitamins, and defend against harmful disease-causing bacteria.

Over 80% of our immune system is located in our gut, and an imbalance or shortage of "good" bacteria can result in viral, bacterial, yeast, or urinary tract infections. An imbalance of bacteria can also contribute to increased allergic sensitivities, poor digestion, and inflammation.

Your natural numbers of beneficial bacteria can be reduced by a number of factors:

  • • Improper diet
  • • Stress
  • • Disease
  • • Aging
  • • Exposure to toxins
  • • Use of anti-biotics or other medications

Seeking Health Probiota 12 is a synergistic blend of 12 probiotic species. These 12, safe, well-studied probiotic lactic acid bactera provide a broad-spectrum of benefits that help restore intestinal microbalance mroe effectively compared to single strain formulas.

  • • 6 colonizing Lactobacillus strains are important for the small intestines
  • • 4 colonizing Bifidobacterium strains benefit the gastrointestinal tract
  • • 2 transient bacteria (normally found in yogurt) provide a benefit throughout the GI tract.

Benefits of supplementing with ProBiota 12

  • • Produces lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and other compounds which naturally kill harmful bacteria, yeast and viruses
  • • Interferes with the binding of harmful bacteria, yeasts and viruses to your intestinal mucosa
  • • Produces short-chain fatty acids that nourish the colon and are typically low in those with digestive complaints
  • • Supports the local digestive immune system, which is actually the majority of your immune defense.
  • • Improves immunological gut barrier function to prevent or reduce symptoms of food allergies and autoimmune conditions.
  • • Synthesizes vitamin K and B vitamins - key for healthy blood clotting, stress reduction and energy.
  • • Produce lactase enzyme that helps digest the milk sugar lactose
  • • Supports activity of detoxifying enzymes and removal of ammonia and phenol, reducing toxicity.

To be effective, the living organisms in probiotics must survive exposure to stomach acids as they travel to the small intestine and colon. Seeking Health ProBiota 12 Maximum Support utilizes a proprietary technology that protects the probiotics against destruction by harsh gastric conditions; resulting in significantly more microorganisms delivered to the small intestine that other, unprotected probiotic formulations.

ProBiota 12 is hypoallergenic. The probiotics used in this formulation are cultured on a proprietary vegetablebased growth media. This product is free of the common allergens milk/casein, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat/gluten, corn, yeast, and soybeans. No sugar, magnesium stearate, maltodextrin, artificial sweeteners, colors, flavors, salicylates, or preservatives are used. Inulin, a dietary fiber derived from chicory root, is used as a base ingredient in place of corn- or wheat-derived maltodextrin, often used in other probiotic supplements.

How to Use:

ProBiota 12 Maximum Support can be used by children or adults as a daily supplement to support optimal gastrointestinal function and to provide probiotic support for people with reduced immune function; viral, bacterial or fungal infections; constipation, diarrhea, or other intestinal disorders; food allergies, sinusitis, or eczema.

Take two (2) capsules daily with food or as directed by a physician. If using medications known to adversely affect the intestinal microflora (such as antibiotics), take the is product several hours after their use.

Refrigerate and keep tightly closed to maintain product potency. If ordering in hot summer months, we recommend adding an ice pack to your order and selecting an expedited shipping method.

About Seeking Health, the company

Dr. Ben Lynch, founder and Chief Medical Officer of Seeking Health, is a naturopathic physician. While majoring in Cell and Molecular biology at the University of Washington, Dr. Ben took a trip through the South Pacific and Southeast Asia that changed his outlook on traditional medicine, and his life.

During this trip, Dr. Ben hiked through the forests, mountains and coasts of Tasmania, worked a cattle ranch in the Outback of Australia, and volunteered with Mother Theresa in Calcutta. He lived in Fiji with a family having no electricity or plumbing, experienced the Himalayan Mountains of Northern India, worked a fruit orchard in New Zealand, and returned to America with an impression of a different form of medicine than he had ever experienced with his mainstream medical education.

This profound experience led Dr. Ben to Bastyr University, and he studied the Mind-Body Connection, Environmental Medicine, Functional Medicine, and Epigenetics.

Dr. Ben saw the huge need for people to obtain foundational nutrients, and Seeking Health was born. Without foundational nutrients, biochemical dysfunction occurs and causes symptoms. Doctor after doctor and person after person do not understand the absolute requirement for our bodies to have the tools to maintain function.

  • • Without water, we die.
  • • Without food, we die.
  • • Without probiotics, we get digestive disorders.
  • • Without multivitamins, we become depressed, fatigued and sick.

“If one supports their bodily systems, especially their digestion and mental health, with pure, highly absorbable, well-formulated nutrients, the ability to remain healthy and vital significantly increases. We want your foundation rock solid and we provide the tools to do so.”

-Dr. Ben Lynch, founder of Seeking Health

Seeking Health believes that the root cause for many health conditions and supplements stem from ineffective digestion, environmental exposures, poor diet, and lack of a healthy social outlet and inlet.

  • • Once digestion is restored and optimized with the best probiotics, digestive enzymes, stomach acid and intestinal repair nutrients, one is able to absorb nutrients from foods and high quality multivitamins.
  • • Once environmental exposures are reduced, one is able to reduce toxic burden which then frees up nutrients to work in promoting health and preventing disease.
  • • Once diet is optimized, nutrients flood in, energy increases, blood sugar stabilizes and the immune system balances.
  • • Creating a social outlet and inlet allows the parasympathetic nervous system to regain control over the reactive sympathetic nervous system, allowing countless nutrients to be used proactively and in a protective manner instead of being wasted on producing stress hormones.

Seeking Health is here to see you get better, and stay better. Their true passion is prevention.

Seeking Health is based in Bellingham, Washington and operated and managed by a team dedicated to bringing you better health through the best quality supplements, prebiotics, probiotics, and multivitamins.

Seeking Health brings you effective formulas produced without preservatives, colors, titanium dioxide, coloring, or gluten.

  1. Awesome Review by susan

Every school year, my sons end up at the pediatricians, and on antibiotics at least 4 or 5 times each. This year, along with having them eat more fruits and vegetables, I started giving them probiota 12. It has made all the difference! Have not been to the pediatricians once this school year. 2. Helps my Crohn's Review by Rin

I had been taking regular over-the-counter Acidophilus as a supplement to help my Crohn's disease for a few years with inconsistent results. When I found these online, I was a little hesitant because of the cost, but decided that if it worked, it would be worth it to feel better. I noticed an immediate improvement of my Crohn's with these, far better than with any other probiotic supplement I've tried. Unlike Acidophilus alone, these worked consistently for me, and I definitely noticed my problems returning when I ran out and had to switch back - the next bottle couldn't come quick enough! Now I'll order at least 3 bottles (3 months worth) at a time.

In a nutshell: These are definitely worth a try if you have a finicky gut. Hopefully they'll work as well for you as they do for me.

  • Potency at 9/7/11 4:50 PM
    • Probiota 12. I heard that probiotics need to be refrigerated for them to live. So how come you will assure that this product will arrive with a full potency? Please respond. Thanks
    • We recommend the use of an ice pack and foil packaging which we offer for sale - along with priority mail shipping. We keep the ProBiota line of probiotics in our warehouse refrigerator until the moment it ships. We have tested the ProBiota line of probiotics and they maintain their potency quite well. As stated on every ProBiota product page: "At higher temperatures (86 F), Probiota 12 will maintain potency for about 2 months. These claims are verified by independent, real-time viability tests." We recommend refrigeration once at home as it makes sense to keep it in the fridge while at home. In health, Dr Ben

  • Candida Yeast at 1/25/12 4:34 PM
    • Hi Dr. Ben,

We have emailed in the past on other products, I have two copies of the C677T, auto immune disease and hypothyroid issues. I discovered fungus within my toe nail last night. I am certain that I have a moderate Candida yeast issue (could explain the terrible joint pain). I am taking two of the ProBiota 12 every evening after dinner and I take approx two tablespoons of Kyolic garlic in water each day. Should I take more ProBiota? I have been completely gluten/wheat free since November. I am becoming VERY sensitive with meats and smells over the past months. I ate a steak two weeks ago and felt poisoned. I am only eating organic meat now in moderation. My diet is becoming more and more limited. Any suggestions on a better suited product or quantity would be beneficial. Also, I have ordered the coffee enema kit and chia seeds, will this assist to get the yeast under control?

As always, thank you for your assistance and have a wonderful evening.

      Angela
    • Angela - My guess the die-off is making you more toxic. You need to support your body's ability to process the toxins released by the yeast - and also the potential heavy metals that other viruses and bacteria are releasing as they die off. The coffee enema kit and the chia seeds were very smart to obtain - and yes they will help you get rid of the symptoms you are experiencing. Couple things: 1) need to support your liver 2) need more antioxidants 3) need to support your digestion 4) you may have low molybdenum levels so supplement directly with molybdenum (to process toxins from yeast) 5) you may have to eat less meat for a bit until you get this feeilng under control. 6) for the nail fungus - try using Vick's vapor rub - odd I know but it works well. Apply nightly. 7) add on Saccharomyces Boulardii in addition to the ProBiota 12 Consider taking 1 capsule of Liver Nutrients with dinner: http://www.healthegoods.com/liver-nutrients-60-vegetarian-capsules-seeking-health.html Consider taking 15 drops of Molybdenum daily: http://www.healthegoods.com/natural-health-brands/molybdenum-liquid-mineral-7-body-bio.html Consider taking 1 capsule of Pro-Digestion Intensive with each large meal. http://www.healthegoods.com/pro-digestion-intensive-120-vegetarian-capsules.html Consider taking 4 capsules of Saccharomyces Boulardii daily with dinner http://www.healthegoods.com/saccharomyces-boulardii-microbial-balance-support-60-vegetarian-capsules-seeking-health.html Consider mixing 1 teaspoon of Optimal Vitamin C Powder along with 5 capfuls of Electrolyte Concentrate into a liter of filtered water and drink throughout the day - not all at once. http://www.healthegoods.com/optimal-vitamin-c-powder.html and http://www.healthegoods.com/electrolyte-concentrate-20-fl-ounces-bottle-bodybio.html Consider eating more soups, broths and only cooked/steamed foods for a few days to lighten the load on your digestive system. Meat, beans, nuts, oils are hard to digest. Take a 'break' from these for a bit if you can. Castor Oil packs over your abdomen are also very beneficial - consider doing once a day for 30 minutes while reading, watching TV or before going to sleep. Joint pain may also be related to taking too much methylfolate - if they feel 'achy' Best Dr Ben

  • Constipation at 2/2/12 2:56 PM
    • Is this product good for chronic severe constipation? By the way, I have one copy of each MTHFR mutation. Does this play a part of this problem?
    • Hello - You got it. Yes - ProBiota 12 is fantastic for those with chronic constipation and MTHFR. Harmful bacteria in the gut play a HUGE role in messing up the lives of people with MTHFR. Harmful bacteria generate a ton of ammonia and toxins which are very tough on those with MTHFR as they cannot process them very well. Best Dr Ben

  • glutamates/gluatmate decarboxylase enzyme/GABA/probiotics at 3/13/12 12:05 PM
    • Hi Dr. Ben -

I think I figured out what is going on with my son: chronic constipation, migraines, dizziness, blurred vision, brain fog, anxiety, sensory stuff, savant-like memory and he also passes out periodically for a few minutes (seizures).

I believe he is not converting glutamates to GABA thus something is prohibiting his GAD enzyme from working.

      1) Is there a test to see if it's genetic? i.e. does he even make GAD?

      2) What could be inhibiting the GAD enzyme?

      2) I've been reading that lactobacillus brevis/paracasei will convert glutamates to GABA - does that mean I could use your probiotics to effectively supplement GAD? Do the bacteria in yogurt actually produce GAD? Is it enough to digest more than just the yogurt?

      3) Could he just have too many glutamate receptors? (stupendous memory like his father... :-)

I've started supplementing him with pyridoxal phospate for the seizures and digestive enzymes seem to help also...

I've given him a sublingual GABA for his anxiety for years - who knew GABA affected the motility of the colon?

Also, if you can point me to where you chat about what to do about a leaky gut, I would appreciate it - he's eating bone broths and except for the small amount of chicken in the soups, next to no glutamates .

I'm sure the child is crawling with bugs from his intestines which is why the probiotics/no sugar - which is why he probably also reacts to more ammonia in the form of amines/salicylates - not to mention the blurred vision/nausea/dizziness...

The onion I started to peel has turned into a agriculture operation:-)

Loved the post on lactose intolerance and how to fix it BTW - and thank you for your kind words from before -

    • Hello - There is a test I am developing which will evaluate the GAD enzyme for mutations. There are things also which limit the GAD enzyme function - I am working on identifying all these. Read this - it shows some factors which cause diminished glutamate conversion to GABA. http://www.sigmaaldrich.com/etc/medialib/docs/Sigma/RBI_Handbook/rbibook5_glugabasynthmeta.Par.0001.File.tmp/rbibook5_glugabasynthmeta.pdf B6 and niacin are useful in converting Glutamate to GABA. Limiting ammonia is also useful - and glutamic acids in foods. The probiotics may help convert glutamate to GABA - this may be due to the reduction in ammonia as well - indirect effect. Yogurt is not an effective source of probiotics in my book - especially due to pasteurization. He may have a lot of glutamate receptors - but they can get downregulated if bombarded - so have to reduce glutamate and calcium in his diet to calm those down. Leaky Gut...that's a whole topic. I may have something here: http://www.healthegoods.com/natural-health-podcasts I'd consider getting him on Molybdenum - a few drops daily for a couple months - if he is age 4 or above. http://www.healthegoods.com/natural-health-brands/molybdenum-liquid-mineral-7-body-bio.html Seizures are seen often in MTHFR deficiency - I hope you are working with a great physician in order to get him back on his feet. Best, Dr Ben

    • What is MTHFR?
    • Hi Sue,

Thank you for your question.  MTHFR is a common genetic mutation and MTHFR treatment can be complicated depending on the mutation type.  Check out this website for more information:  http://mthfr.net/

  • Lactose Intolerance at 12/7/12 7:35 AM
    • I am severely lactose intolerant. I have used the Seekeing Health Lactase Drops in making a lactose free Thanksgiving this year (homemade mozzarella, whipped cream, and evaporated milk, and more!)! I am so happy to be able to make some of my favorite foods at home and be able to eat them again. Even with Lactaid pills (several at a time), regular mozzarella and many other dairy products will still cause strong LI symptoms. I am ordering your ProBiota 12 today to see if it will help with my LI symptoms, as I cannot control what foods have dairy in them outside of my home. I would like to understand the science behind the claim that this product will help my body produce more of the lactase enzyme.

      Thanks,
      Renee
    • Hi Renee,

Lactase insufficiency means the concentration of β-galactosidase, also called lactase, in the brush border membrane of the mucosa of the small intestine is too small.  β-galactosidase is responsible for breaking apart the lactose molecule for absorption.  When it’s missing, a person feels the lactose intolerant symptoms.  There are probiotics with high β-galactosidase activity, so this makes them a valid treatment options for reducing the symptoms of lactose intolerance.  As you can see, this is why the statement about the Probiota 12 says it contains probiotics which produce lactase enzyme (β-galactosidase) that helps digest the milk sugar lactose.

I hope that clarifies the mechanism for you!
