Torf Saprox Natural Sulfuric Mud, 500mL

Tinea versicolor (pityriasis versicolor) is a common skin infection caused by the yeast infection (Pityrosporum ovale). The yeat interferes with the normal tanning of the skin. This results in small areas that are lighter than surrounding skin. This yeast is normally found on the human skin and only becomes troublesome under certain circumstances, such as a warm and humid environment. This skin disease commonly affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm and humid climates. This product is a great antifungal treament and also helps treat psoriasis,  athlete's foot and ringworm.

Symptoms of Tinea versicolor:
• Oval or irregularly-shaped spots of 1/4 to 1 inch in diameter, often merging together to form a larger patch
• Occasional fine scaling of the skin producing a very superficial ash-like scale
• Pale, dark tan, or pink in color, with a reddish undertone that can darken when the patient is overheated, such as in a hot shower or during/after exercise
• Itching that can worsen with sweating or overheating

"After trying many products to treat my Tinea Versicolor infection I found Saprox to work the best"
Andrea, Cleaveland, OH

PROPER APPLICATION OF SAPROX

Wash and dry application area thoroughly. Shake Saprox container well. Apply to affected area and beyond 100% additional to ensure effectiveness and prevent re-infection. This means if affected area is 1 inch in size, apply enough for 2 inches (exceptions noted below). The application should be an even green layer. Allow Saprox to completely dry which is about 15 minutes. Once dry, wash Saprox off in shower, sink or use a damp washcloth.

Exceptions: If fungus affects more than one toe or toenail, apply to all toes top and bottom to ensure proper treatment.

If fungus affects only one toe or toenail, apply to nail and surrounding skin. If fungus affects the body of the foot, apply Saprox to entire foot top and bottom as the foot is a prime environment for fungus.

If application area is sensitive such as the face or groin, one may apply moisturizer afterwards. It is recommended not to apply moisturizer if not necessary; however, if skin becomes sensitive, then moisturizer must be used following each application. Applying a standard moisturizer may aggravate the condition so use Torf Facial Moisturizer as it is the proper skin pH, contains humic acids and does not encourage fungal growth.

Notes:
Tinea versicolor: If Saprox dries too quickly, one may rewet the surface with a spray bottle. This allows the sulfur to penetrate more effectively for longer duration. Ideally have someone apply Saprox and rewet it for you to ensure proper coverage if on back or shoulders. Rewetting the Saprox once should be enough. Then allow to dry and wash off.
Tinea barbae: It is best to shave prior to application to ensure proper coverage of Saprox on affected areas. Treatment time will be less and outcome effective. If beard is left intact, then fungus may re-infect as complete coverage of affected area may not be possible. If shaving is not an option, pour necessary amount of Saprox to cover treatment area into a small bowl and dilute with a bit of water for a less muddy consistency. Use hands or put on large cloth and apply Saprox fully. Allow Saprox to dry and then shower off well as Saprox will adhere to the beard.
Tinea pedis: If only one toe is affected, simply apply a small amount on directly on the affected area. Let dry and then wash off. If more than one toe is affected, apply to all toes to prevent cross-contamination. Purchase 100% cotton socks and spray shoes with 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. Wash white socks with bleach.
Tinea cruris: If one is overweight and skin sweaty all day, it may be best to leave Saprox on all day. Purchase 100% cotton boxers for better breathability.

A research abstract describing how sulphur in Saprox works:

The use of sulfur in dermatology.

Gupta AK , Nicol K .

Division of Dermatology, Department of Medicine, Sunnybrook And Women's College Health Science Center, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Sulfur has antifungal, antibacterial, and keratolytic activity. In the past, its use was widespread in dermatological disorders such as acne vulgaris, rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff, pityriasis versicolor, scabies, and warts. Adverse events associated with topically applied sulfur are rare and mainly involve mild application site reactions. Sulfur, used alone or in combination with agents such as sodium sulfacetamide or salicylic acid, has demonstrated efficacy in the treatment of many dermatological conditions.

  1. Saprox is the best! Review by Danielle

I am on my 7th day of application and for the most part, you can't see it anymore. I'm so happy with this product. It's awesome. One more thing. I have read all of the possible causes for tinea versicolor and I don't know which one could have caused it. I'm very healthy, maintain very good hygiene and almost never take antibiotics. Can this tinea really just be triggered by heat or stress, cause I definitely have enough stress. Haha. Anyway, I have only had it for a few years and tried the shampoos and lotrimin with little success. I wanted to go natural because I knew that it would probably be the best choice, and it most definitely was! Saprox is the best! Thanks for your time. Danielle (Posted on 10/17/12)

  2. Finally relief!! Review by Bill

I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical about this product. but using it two times changed my mind! Its a bit different in how its applied. You put it on, let it dry and then clean off with water. Its kind of like a mud pack. As I said above after two applications I saw really improved results. Now after using the product for more than a week-my area is clear and shows no sign of issue. Really a great product!! (Posted on 10/17/12)

  3. Try It! Review by Kay

My 11 year old developed the Tinea Versicolor rash last summer. I had never heard of this rash and was startled by the "bleached" circles it left on her skin, but thought it would resolve itself with some steroid cream. When it seemed to make it worse, I did some research on her symptoms and took her to her pediatrician. I told them I suspected it was a fungus but they ignored me and told me to keep putting the steroid cream on her. I took her back a second time and they decided that it was indeed a fungus. They told me there was no cure and to apply a dandruff shampoo for a few minutes every night before her shower, for one week. Her skin reacted to the shampoo and became red and inflamed. After several weeks of frustration, I began to look into natural treatments. I ordered Saprox because I felt I had nothing to loose. My daughter has tanned skin and the spots were starting to raise questions and embarrass her at school. I ordered Saprox and applied it first to a small area on her foot. She kept it on for about 20 minutes before showering it off. By morning the swelling had gone down considerably, and within several treatments the rash was gone. I knew it was safe to apply to her whole body, and we did so for about two weeks every night before her shower. Her rash was and is completely gone! It took a few months for the bleached spots to get their normal skin color back, but now her skin is back to normal. I am really glad I discovered this product for my daughter. I have always been skeptical about the effectiveness of alternative medicines, but now I will actually be more likely to try them before a pharmaceutical one. (Posted on 10/17/12)

  4. AMAZING! Review by Karen

My 1 yr old son developed toe nail fungus in all of his toe nails one summer. A combination of sweaty feet and always wanting to wear his shoes without socks. I never thought it would turn into a full blown fungal infection. The pediatrician agreed it was fungus, but offered no solution. He scoffed at my idea to try natural oils, but said, "It couldn't hurt!" I initially tried a combination oil 3x a day, but could not completely rid him of the infection. I treated his nails for about 9-12 months like this. VERY SPENDY! I needed to change our game plan and started to do some more online searching. I found this web site and emailed Dr. Ben about my situation, and he emailed me back the same day! We started using the Saprox 2-3x a day, started silicia 6x, oral acidophilis, and bleaching anything that touched his toes (socks, shoes, nail clippers, etc.). Our new plan was aggressive, but it needed to be because by this time he'd had it for almost 2 years, his nails were yellow, crumbly, and twisted looking. It was spring and perfect timing for muddy toes and playing barefoot outside. Boys and mud kind of go hand-in-hand. I wish I could say this treatment was effective over night, but it wasn't. I can say that we still have a half a bottle of Saprox left and toe nails that are completely rid of infection! We treated him for 9 months before infection was completely gone. We continue to treat his nails every night during story time before bed just profilacticly. We never want to do this again! (Posted on 10/17/12)

  5. Finally I found Something that Works Review by Carissa

I am a African-American woman with Tinea Versicolor. I have had it for the last 15 years and over those years watched it spread over my entire body. After many trips to the doctor and many bottles of Selsun Blue, I finally found something that works. I have used a bottle so far and after two weeks, the redness after a hot shower is significantly less. I look forward to the healing process and eventually getting back my even skin tone. 6. Excellent Product Review by Nick

I thought I would have tinea for the rest of my life after prescribed medications did not work...desperate on the computer late night I purchased a saprox. My body was about 50% covered, and this mud cleared it up in a little over 6 days. Follow the suggested usage based on severity and you will be on your way to clear healthy skin. (Posted on 10/17/12)

  7. Truly Effective! Review by Amanda

My boyfriend has had a case of diagnosed and untreated Tinea Versicolor for over 5 years. The fungus had spread to his whole torso, front and back. It left him unable to tan and became very red after he showered or worked out. This was the first product he tried, as the other options out there seemed too time consuming and ineffective. He used it every day till the bottle was empty (about 2 1/2weeks). Surprisingly, the Tinea is over 90% gone! In addition his skin now tans in the sun! We are both very happy with this product. Will be purchasing the 2nd bottle shortly! (Posted on 10/17/12)

  8. This Stuff Really Works! Review by C Carr

Hi, I just want to let you know that the Saprox Mud product really works!! I've had tinea versicolor for over 20 years and have tried lotions, soaps and prescriptions that would treat the itching but never really take the spots away. I used this and after two weeks my itching AND spots are gone!! I also did a couple other thing you suggested, like cutting most of the refined sugars out of my diet and I recently bought a chlorine shower filter and that has made a big difference on my skin also. Just want to say thanks so much! Sincerely, C. Carr (Posted on 10/17/12)

  9. This truly works for tinea versicolor... - By: Janice Foote Review by Jan

Unknown to friends and family, I've suffered from tinea versicolor on and off over the years. Nothing worked permanently until I started using Saprox. So anyone else out there buy it and use it. It will get rid of tinea versicolor. (posted by admin) (Posted on 10/17/12)

  10. Effective stuff Review by Anonymous

I have had 'sweaty' feet for a few years - likely because I was always wearing boots and in Seattle's famous rains and mud when I used to do landscape construction. I used Saprox for about a week and my feet became very soft and didnt sweat nearly as much as they used to. Nice to have my feet back again. I also used Saprox on one of my boys when he had some athlete's foot from running around at the YMCA. The Saprox worked very well. It took the itching away and killed the athlete's foot. It was also fun to use because it is literally like putting mud on your feet - what kid doesnt like that?! I did have to put on lotion after I put on the Saprox otherwise I found his skin would get too dry from it. The container is huge - 1/2 liter - so if I ever get athlete's foot, I still have some around. (posted by Admin) (Posted on 10/17/12)

  • Scalp problem at 7/10/11 11:30 AM
    • My 35 year old daughter has had an itchy built up crust on her scalp for several years. Her doctor subscribed a very expensive tube of medicine to rub on her scalp and when she does it eases up the itch and seems to clear up some but then comes right back! Help! She also passed on the problem to her baby as she had this while she was pregnant. She also gets red, slightly scaly itchy patches on her knees and elbows??? Is this eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis??? Doctors do not help her at all. If this is just a yeast overgrowth or fungal problem, will your products cure this. Her son is almost three and has patches on his scalp and also tinea pedia. When the crust comes off it takes the hair with it and leave small bald spots. I am afraid it will become worse and worse. My daughter's beautiful hair is getting thinner and thinner. It was thick and beautiful as a teenager. She is 35 now and probably had this problem for 10 years or longer. I want to help her and my grandson.
    • Hello - If the doctor prescribed a cream or ointment for the itchy scalp, it is likely a steroid. This explains why the problem comes right back when the cream is stopped. This sounds like psoriasis given the description and location of the skin problems, but it is impossible to be sure without a diagnosis from your doctor. Helping psoriasis needs to come from within - not simply using topical ointments and creams. This means one has to improve their immune system and digestive functions in order to gain marked improvement on the skin's surface. The Moor Mud Baths are very helpful along with Liquid Vitamin D3, ProBiota 12 Powder, ProBiota Immune, L Glutamine Powder and Pro-Digestion Intensive. Trace Minerals for healthy skin along with Biotin may also be supportive. I highly recommend getting a diagnosis and then working from there. There are many types of psoriasis and the causes may be different.

I have a 17 yr. old daughter that has had ringworm since the age of 10, it comes and goes, especially in the summer months when it hot and humid, i try to keep her off sugar. It hasn't been that bad for over 2 yrs., but would like to know how i can treat her internally and outwardly in the affected areas. Can it be cured?

      Thank you,

    • Claudia - Yes - ringworm can go away when appropriately targeted. I recommend you consider: Biotin - 1 capsule daily http://www.healthegoods.com/biotin-5-90-vegetarian-capsules-by-seeking-health.html ProBIota 12 Powder: 1/4 teaspoon after dinner http://www.healthegoods.com/pro-biota-12-powder-maximum-support-200-billion-cfus-twelve-species-60-grams-seeking-health.html Saccharomyces Boulardii: 1 capsule after dinner http://www.healthegoods.com/saccharomyces-boulardii-microbial-balance-support-60-vegetarian-capsules-seeking-health.html Optimal Multivitamin Chewable: 1 to 2 tablets chewed with breakfast and 1 to 2 tablets chewed with lunch. http://www.healthegoods.com/optimal-multivitamin-60-chewable-tablets-seeking-health.html Microbial Defense: 1 capsule with breakfast. http://www.healthegoods.com/microbial-defense.html Vitamin D3 to support her immune system. Consider 7 drops ONCE a WEEK placed directly on her tongue or on a bite of food. http://www.healthegoods.com/vitamin-d360-by-seeking-health.html Optimal Fish Oil capsules: 2 daily taken with a meal - anytime of day. To support healthy skin and cell membranes. http://www.healthegoods.com/optimal-fish-oil-60-softgels.html The Biotin, Microbial Defense and Saccharomyces Boulardii are all short term - about 3 months. The others are long term and should be taken daily. As an FYI - if she has an acne problem, consider having her apply Moor Mud Mask once to twice daily. It works wonders. http://www.healthegoods.com/wholesale-moor-mud-products-natural-health-products/moor-mud-mask-for-problem-skin-torf-krasno.html Not only will her ringworm likely go away with these suggestions, but her overall health and energy level will skyrocket. • HELP WITH SAPROX at 4/6/12 6:46 AM
    • OK my bottle of saprox arrived yesterday. Immediately I put it on as directed. I have large spots of tinea versicolor on my stomach and chest. I put it on where I have it and then some, for about 12 minutes. I went in the shower washed it off and it now looks 2x as darker and its very dry! I dont know what to do. Will a shower filter help? Summer is approaching and I do not wish to have tinea versicolor in the summer. My confidence is diminishing because of this. PLEASE HELP! Your answer will be greatly appreciated!
      Thank You,
      Mike
    • Hi Mike - Consider applying Coconut Oil to your dry skin after you apply Saprox. A shower filter is highly recommended along with Saprox to help combat tinea versicolor. Listen to this podcast on Tinea versicolor and read the article (it is on another website of ours): http://www.seekinghealth.com/natural-health-podcasts/tinea-versicolor-treatment-causes-prevention.html In health, Dr Ben

  • other skin irritations at 10/3/12 6:12 AM
    • does this product work on eczema?
    • Hello!

Thanks for your question.  Torf Saprox Natural Antifungal is not recommended to treat eczema.  This product kills fungals, which eczema is not.  For eczema, I recommend the Torf Moor Mud--either the mud from the Czech Republic or Hungary—both are good.  Apply the mud directly to the affected area.

The Czech Republic product:  Torf Moor Mud for Bath and Body Wrap – 500 mL or 1 liter size

The Hungary product:  Torf Organic Hungarian Moor Mud, 5kg (11lbs)

Regularly taking Evening primrose oil also reduces dryness, inflammation, itching and scaliness, which are the common symptoms of eczema.  A primrose oil option is:  Seeking Health Optimal Primrose Oil.

  • Coconut oIl at 3/11/13 9:25 PM
    • Hi! my name is Andrea and I've had TV for about 5 years now, after I put on Saprox can I use coconut oil to moisturize my skin afterward? Also, before I put on Saprox, in this case I am using Tinea Clear, can i use a normal body wash to clean my skin then wait for my skin to dry before I start putting on the mud? I know that we do NOT use soap to wash the TInea Clear once you put it on.
      Thanks!
    • Hi Andrea,

Yes, apply the Coconut Oil to your dry skin after you apply Saprox.  A chlorine shower filter is highly recommended, along with Saprox, or Tinea Clear to help combat tinea versicolor.

In the shower, wash yourself with a natural soap---Neem Soap.  Here are two bars of Neem soap to check out:

      http://healthygoods.com/auromere-ayurvedic-tulsi-neem-soap-2-75-oz.html

      http://healthygoods.com/auromere-ayurvedic-vanilla-neem-soap-2-75-oz.html

Definitely ensure your skin is completely dry before applying the Saprox/Tinea Clear.  Shake the bottle very well before using.  Apply the Tinea Clear in an even, thin layer according to the instructions on the bottle.

Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you.
