Chi's Enterprise Wine Extract

Wine Extract (a special Chinese wine extract) not only decreases the liver's production of cholesterol by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase but also balances the body's level of unsaturated fatty acids. Clinical studies demonstrated that patients with high cholesterol levels, who were given 0.6-2.4g of Wine Extract per day continuously for 8 weeks, experienced a decrease in cholesterol levels by 11.2-32.8% on average. No liver or other systemic side effects were reported.

Another study in China compared the cholesterol-lowering effect of Wine Extract to that of Prevacor (pravastatin), a popular cholesterol-lowering drug, on 40 patients. (table above)

Further studies compared Wine Extract to other cholesterol-lowering or ‘statin' drugs. These studies demonstrated that Wine Extract can lower LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) by 21% or more, depending on the dosage. The results are almost similar, but the significance of using Wine Extract over drugs like Mevacor and Prevacor lies in the form of the active ingredient in these products, lovastatin. Wine Extract, because it is naturally derived, contains substances that balance out the liver toxicity effect that the chemically generated lovastatin can induce. Mevacore and Prevacor contain lovastatin and lovastatin-like substances in a pure chemical form that is very detrimental to the liver.

A 3 month study on the effect of Wine Extract on 155 patients revealed that it is able to reduce total cholesterol level by 88%, triglyceride level by 80%, and atherosclerosis index by 84%. Additionally, HDL cholesterol (the good cholesterol) increased by 65%.
