BodyBio PC Liquid Phosphatidylcholine, 16 oz

Formulated with a 4:1 Ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 in liquid form.

Of the tens of thousands of molecules that make up the life of a cell, Phosphatidylcholine (PC) stands apart as probably the most important one of all.  BodyBio PC is made of only pure phospholipids, but it goes one important step further – it is also formulated with the essential lipids at a 4:1 ratio.  Most PC currently available has an EFA ratio of only 12:1.  BodyBio PC not only has a higher concentration of phospholipids, up to 66%, but also maintains EFA concentration at the preferred 4:1 ratio, a which is exclusive to BodyBio.

What is BodyBio PC?

BodyBio PC is a highly concentrated mixture of phospholipids with the highest one being Phosphatidylcholine. As we grow older, the amount of phosphatidylcholine in our cells tends to decrease. By making up for this loss through diet, we can boost the cellular levels and slow down or even reverse this decline. Supplementation can help promote focus and memory, support cardiovascular health, increase healthy skin elasticity, and promote optimal liver function.

Phosphatidylcholine supports cardiovascular health by helping cholesterol dissolve more easily, makes it more difficult for cholesterol to build up in arteries, and supports cholesterol removal from tissues throughout the body.  It also promotes generation of more acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter which is essential for memory retention in the brain. The more acetylcholine available, the more effective and efficient memory will be. Research has also shown significant support for the liver by supporting enzyme function as well as structural rebuilding of liver tissue.

What is a Phospholipid?

Chemically speaking, phospholipids are the active component in lecithin. Compared to a typical fat or triglyceride (“Tri” meaning three fatty acids attached), phospholipids normally contain two fatty acids and in place of the third fatty acid they have a phosphorous containing head group. A phospholipid is unique because its tail likes oil and its head group likes water. When a phospholipid comes in contact with water, it spontaneously forms a “bi-layer structure”. The bi-layer functions as the “skin” or “membrane” of living cells and organelles.

Another crucial component of a phospholipid is the type of fatty acids attached to it. A phospholipid such as soy-derived polyenylphosphatidylcholine is rich in linoleic and linolenic acid, which are polyunsaturated fatty acids that provide “fluidity” to the cell membrane.

Maintaining membrane fluidity is crucial, as the membrane is crucial to the majority of cellular activities.  BodyBio PC is formulated with those important essential oils, the omega 6 and the omega 3’s, at a 4:1 ratio.  Four parts of omega 6 are from organic sunflower oil and one part of omega 3 is from organic flax oil.

If I am allergic to Soy can I take BodyBio PC?

Eating the seeds of some plants may trigger an allergic response, but the oil extracted from the seeds does not. During the oil extraction process the proteins are separated from the oil. It is the protein that can cause an allergic reaction, the oil does not. The FDA specifically states that oils do not contribute to allergies.*

While soybeans are regarded as allergenic foods, Lecithin (a by-product of soybean oil production) is not because allergens are found only in the protein fraction. The process of oil separation requires dissolving the soybean in a solvent (such as hexane). Proteins do not dissolve in the solvent and are therefore separated out. Lecithin is then used as an ingredient in many food products, and is the base material for BodyBio PC.

However, BodyBio PC requires additional processing which insures the removal of any remaining protein fractions to arrive at such a high concentration of phospholipids, providing the highest quality PC.

*This information is currently in the FDA labeling regulations, which also excludes manufacturers of supplements from any requirement for posting an allergic warning message on products that only contain oil.

About BodyBio, the company

BodyBio was founded in 1995 by Dr. Patricia Kane and her entrepreneurial partner and husband, Edward Kane.

In 1995, Ed and Patricia Kane, Ph.D. developed a medical database program that would produce a list of required nutrients based on an individual’s blood chemistry results. It links nutritional deficiencies to a person’s blood chemistry/CBC and red cell fatty acids, and provides recommendations to correct those deficiencies, known as The BodyBio Report.

Focusing on evidence based nutrition for over 25 years, Dr. Kane has written numerous articles and books for both the scientific community and the public. Dr. Kane’s primary interest is in fatty acids, nutritional biochemistry, cell membrane function and neurological disturbances, and has a long standing interest in the challenging areas of seizure disorders, autism, traumatic brain injury, MS, ALS, Parkinson’s, CFIDS, and heavy metal toxicity. Her dedication and success in working with children and adults with fragile brain architecture and patients with challenging neurological problems has brought her widespread recognition in the field of nutritional biochemistry.

Dr. Kane works with doctors across the country addressing complex metabolic disorders and lipid disturbances with targeted nutritional intervention.

Dr. Kane serves as Director of Medical Research at BodyBio, having developed a biomedical analysis system for fatty acid and biochemical testing. Her expertise in boldly addressing complex metabolic aberrations and lipid disturbances with targeted nutritional intervention for neurological disorders has led to direct nutrient application utilized by medical doctors worldwide. Her clinical experience, working with physicians, spans 30 years.
