Healthy Oils and Vinegars

Many nutrition experts believe that oils and fats are an essential part of your diet because they act as a catalyst to help your body absorb and utilize mineral and nutrients.

These "healthy fats" like extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil are known as monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Monounsaturated fats are also found abundantly in nuts and fish such as salmon (Omega-3 essential fatty acids).

Replacing "bad" fats with beneficial unsaturated fats may help lower your cholesterol, benefit skin and organs, and help keep your body weight at healthy levels.

Don't be afraid of fats! Select one of our healthy fats below and enjoy fat without fear. Healthy oils and vinegars come in all shapes and sizes on the market, but how many of them are healthy? We have compiled a small list and broken it down for you. It turns out, you do not need to sacrifice the flavor or your health to find the good stuff.

Apple cider vinegar is one of the first healthy oils and vinegars you should have in your cabinet. You can use with just about anything you cook or bake. You can also use it as a cleaning agent, though, we suggest doing that separately. You need the unfiltered apple cider vinegar though.

Balsamic vinegar is the next one on the list. This is one of our personal favorites. It is has become a staple in American households. Balsamic vinegar is nothing more than reduced grape juice with all the vitamins and nutrients. That makes it one of the more preferable healthy oils and vinegars on the market. You need to find the one that has "grape must" as an ingredient. Do not buy the one that lists "coloring" as an alternative.

Rice Vinegar is the next one on the healthy oils and vinegars list. It has natural rice in it. That means there is no sodium or calories. It also has phenolic compounds which some studies indicate help combat cancer. Red wine vinegar is number four on our healthy oils and vinegars list. It is the same as drinking wine without the alcohol. It has natural phenol that is also found in grapes. Some say that it helps to combat things like Type-2 Diabetes and skin tumors, though more research needs to be done. You can also use it as a marinade or in chili.

Distilled white vinegar is the last one on the healthy oils and vinegars list. You can use it in everything. You can also use it as a topical cream for warts.
