Live Superfoods Organic Pineapple Rings
When you think of the perfect slice of dried pineapple, this is it. Chewy, but not leathery, with fresh, tangy pineapple flavor. Great for a handy snack, added to a trailmix, or rehydrated in a little spring water and sprinkled in muesli or yogurt (or baked into muffins or cookies). A tasty dried fruit kids will love that's easy to pack.
Pineapple is an excellent source of manganese, vitamin C and fiber. Its protein-digesting enzyme bromelain seems to help digestion at the end of a high protein meal.
Our pineapple rings are considered raw (dried at low temperatures to maintain enzymatic integrity), certified USDA organic, gluten-free, Kosher, and vegan.
Pineapple's history: The pineapple is native to southern Brazil and Paraguay where wild relatives occur. It was spread by the Indians up through South and Central America to the West Indies before Columbus arrived. In 1493 Columbus found the fruit on the island of Guadaloupe and carried it back to Spain and it was spread around the world on sailing ships that carried it for protection against scurvy. The Spanish introduced it into the Philippines and may have taken it to Hawaii and Guam early in the 16th Century. The pineapple reached England in 1660 and began to be grown in greenhouses for its fruit around 1720.
