What Are Cell Salts?

Cell salts, also called tissue salts, are homeopathic preparations based on 12 mineral compounds traditionally associated with the Schüssler system. They include forms of calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium, iron, and silica.

There are 12 individual cell salts. In traditional homeopathic practice, each has been associated with different uses. A combination containing all 12 mineral cell salts is commonly called Bioplasma.

Bioplasma Benefits

Bioplasma has traditionally been promoted in homeopathic practice for areas such as digestion, energy, recovery from physical or emotional stress, and nutrient assimilation. These are traditional homeopathic uses and should not be considered established medical benefits. Current scientific evidence has not established homeopathy as an effective treatment for specific health conditions.

Some older homeopathic sources have also described Bioplasma in relation to tooth remineralization. Reliable clinical evidence has not established Bioplasma as a method for remineralizing teeth.

How Are Cell Salts Used?

Cell salts are commonly available as small, quick-dissolving tablets or liquids. Directions, ingredients, strengths, and age recommendations can vary by product and manufacturer. Follow the directions provided with the specific product and talk with a qualified healthcare professional about questions involving medications, pregnancy, children, or existing health conditions.
